NVIDIA ShadowPlay

I think it's excellent.

I rarely set out to do a recorded gameplay session, but having the option to record those random funnies/streaks when I am casually playing would be welcomed!

Sounds interesting, the smaller file sizes are definitely a massive selling point in my eyes, can't wait to give it a try.

Seems like a very good idea. Constant recording with less of a frame drop. Sounds good to me.
Although, my wallets crying out at the thought of me getting a 780.

I'm guessing all the people complaining about 'lol, 20mins' didn't engage their brains when looking at that screenshot.

Couldn't care if it recorded unlimited mins tbh

Without the added feature Dxtory as of recording Multi audio devices every single recording program out there is pointless for my needs.

With Dxtory I can record gameplay and be in teamspeak or skype and not have the coms mix with the game audio.

This feature is what separates Dxtory from the rest.

Yes, we all know what Dxtory can do. Most of us use/have used it. This is not a Fraps clone, it's looking to do something using hardware on Kepler cards and is in it's VERY infant stages. As a result it makes it a VERY interesting application with great potential.

Pointless for your needs, door is over that way. When game and comms recording makes it into a version of the application, which seems likely, make sure to dodge the egg flying firmly at your face on the way back in.

:D
Butt hurt much?

If you think this will ever get multi audio recording you just kidding yourself.

Good idea, i use Dxtory to record my games (not that i bother anymore) next to no hit on performance, as for storage does it really matter when 1, 2 and 3TB drives are pretty cheap now? Even recording onto an external 1TB drive is more than capable for 30fps 1080.

20mins is also not the best when you can have games that last well over an hour (premium feature for longer?)

Storage really isn't cheap. I bought a 2tb drive a year ago for 69 usd. They still haven't settled back to that after the floods.

Think? Nope, I am just capable of reading.

Yes and that means they will soon add Mic support... Not what I am talking about. I mean will this let you record from usb headset and a sound card at the same time?? Like Dxtory?

Answer my friend is Noo this is designed for people who just want a quick way to record some footage. Dxtory is aimed at people who more seriously want to record game footage.

This is just going to be used to record footage....and not game footage?!
Dxtory is good with it's split sound feeds, very good if you're recording whilst playing with a few mates in TS3/Skype as you can mute their voices (or LPs and you need to up one voice and lower the other)

You're making an assumption that Nvidia wouldn't use that same idea and implement into their recording software, it's an unknown neither of you can answer till the time comes. You would hope a company like Nvidia won't be so short sighted to miss such an opportunity.

Same could be said about Fraps though? why hasn't that added the feature? why is it only Dxtory that has it?

This why I think it wont be added to this, I would hope I am wrong tbh more recording software should have this feature.

I love Dxtory but am totally giving this a spin. Pre-encoded using on-board hardware? Count me in.

Also, for the haters - SS shows configurable shadow time AND manual recording:

Alt+F10 to save shadow recording
Alt-F9 toggles manual recording

Haters? Criticism is hate now? Lawdy lawd.

Fraps is a bit antiquated now anywyay considering it offers features that you get in other applications for free.

Very nice, it's a novelty feature but I can see it being pretty useful for a lot of people. Looks like it's gonna be well established at launch which means with maturity it should be a considerable feature.

Hopefully this is the start of software from the card manufacturers like nvidia/amd which use the hardware for the best experience/performance, it'll mean more selling points for them and more features for us :)

Any sign of this yet?
A couple of sites where saying 25th of June and I guess it's a part of the "GeForce Experience" program but I can't find it. Perhaps you have to be using 320.18? but I don't fancy installing them with so many issues.

Tried dxtory, first time it crashed constantly. Some time later tried again, crashed on install with an un-googlable error.

Thank you nvidia for delivering people from that mess.

Running msi after burner in the background?

Known to cause havoc with DxTory.

As for ShadowPlay, it got pushed back a few days from it's 25th launch.
