• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Nvidia Shenanigans again?

it would be useful if we could see the difference between high levels of tessellation and normal but we cant - so i see little point in releasing software that exploits the performance of a card that copes with such levels, other than to willy wave and point the finger underhandedly.
It's no differentthan 3DMark which also uses the most extreme settings to bring the framerate into single digits.

What this shows is how current cards will handle games in the future.

which is equally pointless, imo :p

I'm still not convinced about this really. there's nothing to suggest that the currect performance differential between the two groups of cards showing in hawx is what we are going to see from future games, especially if there is an argument that hawx is using totally over the top levels of tessellation. we just dont know at this point.

Without giving details, suggests that Ubisoft AMD and Nvidia have agreed not to use adaptive algorithm designed to avoid application of tessellation where it's totally unnecessary.

lol

Besides Shattered Horizon 3D mark is no indication of gaming performance.

Also this is not like 3dmark because its a bench unto itself, where Hawx2 is not & should not be trying to push hardware unnecessarily for the sake of it with no noticeable gains.

So the benchmark uses standard (more extreme) tessalation that hurts ATI more then Nvidia so ATI ask for a change but Ubisoft refuse.

Maybe Ubisoft doesn't want to lower the IQ of the benchmark for ATI's sake, after all it is a benchmark and as such designed to bring cards to their knees with ridiculous settings.

It's about using so much hat it's gone way beyond what's necessary for best image quality. Currently, the only thing nVidia really have going for them is better tessellation performance., it makes sense that they want to exaggerate this by getting people to benchmark stuff with extreme levels of tessellation that isn't necessary. As I keep saying, the moment you stop noticing a difference in levels of tessellation, it's pointless continuing to turn it up. It's a waste of performance, but nVidia clearly don't agree with this as unnecessary levels of tessellation give the impression that their cards are vastly superior.

As for what AMD said, it seems that they're just trying to get a method working that doesn't use unnecessary power while maintaining image quality, they claimed it'd benefit all GPUs after all.

That would come under efficiency & NV don't do efficiency, its all brute force big & bloated is what they like.

Please direct me to these recent posts threads you are going on about.

I'll help you out, yes very anti AMD.

Last post from me, not me giving out abuse to other members.

to be fair to raven he does post some constructive stuff, and he does help a lot of people out on here including myself many times.
the end of the day, he is allowed to have his views and he is allowed to change his views, i think without raven and his antics on this forum it would be a pretty normal place.

like von stated its getting a tad out of hand, quit givin raven stick guys, a bit of banter is cool but lets not get out of hand here
