Nvidia should do a buyback scheme for 2080ti owners

It literally means exactly that, take it up with the oxford/cambridge dictionary if you don't agree:

flagship
noun [ C ]

UK

/ˈflæɡ.ʃɪp/ US

/ˈflæɡ.ʃɪp/

flagship noun [C] (BEST PRODUCT)
best or most important product, idea, building, etc. that an organization owns or produces:
This machine is the flagship in our new range of computers.
The company's flagship store is in New York.

Jesus, you internet dorks will argue about anything lol.

Says the guy who just used a quote from a dictionary that shows that Flagship doesn't just mean best, it also means most important.

In case you don't get, you just proved the argument for the guy you were arguing against.

That's what I based it on, the best OR most important.

"Most important" can cover many metrics, see my previous post.

It's like a "flagship store", it doesnt necessarily mean it's the biggest but may be based on the location itself such as a capital city, which would generate the most income/footfall.

Quit the namecalling too, no need is there.

Most important can indeed mean many things, but I don't recall anyone referring to the GTX 1060 as nvidia's flagship card.

The internet out in full force today... can argue semantics all you like, but in context, the 3090 is the flagship card.

Aah, you're one of those people...

I shouldn't feed the troll, but yet here we go... the 3090 is indeed the flagship card. Refer yourself to the oxford dictionary, then quietly slip out the back door, no one will notice.

I am not a troll. NVidia call the 3080 the flagship. The 3080 is likely to be the most important product in this series so slip out of the back door after reading the dictionary yourself and understanding what Jensen meant when he said it.

Just read back through this thread and realised that you’ve called me a troll after trolling me for stating a direct quote from the head of NVidia.

Why not, for loyal customers who spent £1250 on a card that's obsolete overnight, well kind of

The 2080 came out and was no faster then a 1080ti....the 2080ti was not much faster for £1200

I said from the start, the 2080 series was overpriced tat....and I decided not to buy and missed the gem completely.

If you bought a 2080 series card...the. You made your choice.

Ridiculous money for a gfx card full stop even for 3090 performance

Nvidia pushed there luck some suckers bought in most sane people said no thanks

Nvidia realised they got greedy and pulled back and are now popular again

I don’t believe they should. Good idea but they are old cards now that realistically no one wants unless they are cheap.

If I bought a 2080Ti a few months ago for £1500 I’d be ****** but had mine 2 years and has had plenty of use. My original 1080Ti I sold for £50 more than I paid so it was only a few hundred on top to upgrade.

It’s unfortunate it has dropped so far in price. But at least something like a 3080 isn’t too far out of reach for most.

Ti owners should be looking to the 3090 or RTX 3080Ti in my opinion if they are looking to upgrade. I’m not so sure yet, most likely won’t bother. There’s just nothing monitor wise to really push these new cards for me.

Less then 2 weeks time I will hopefully have a flagship card arriving :p

Best part, it will be around half the price of the 2080Ti. Ooooh, that’s good! :D

I totally agree if you read the GPU market well you can get the best cards at a reasonable price, my first card I bought was a r9 fury which thanks to mining I sold for a profit after a year of use I then got a 1080 ti which I had for 2 years and I then sold for £300 less than i originally paid, I then purchase a new 5700 xt with 2 games for £300 which was less money than I got for the 1080 ti but similar performance.so pc gaming doesn't have to be to expensive if you buy and sell at the right times.

Just do what Hobib does. Complain that what Nvidia did made you feel unwell, then reward them for making you feel this way by ordering two of their most expensive offerings. Do this every gen over and over. That will teach them! :p

Love these threads :D

Lol. Surely no one is buying that marketing line? I am likely getting a 3080 and am under no illusions that it is flagship or will remain so for long anyways.

your posts are just like those grammarly ads that appear when your watching an interesting video on you tube.

That's life. I bought a 2080ti 18 months ago. It's been great thanks. Thing is I've ridden the high end GPU wave for a decade now. Always buying the best and selling it on when the new best thing comes out. I've never had to pay more than a couple of hundred quid for the latest GPU. Until now but that's fine. I knew this would happen and it's not as desperate as everyone is making out. Forgetting about the 3090, and presuming I can get £400 for my ti, a new 3080 will cost £250-300. Actually I've not dismissed the idea of keeping the ti. It handles everything I play brilliantly. Roll on the benchies!

Seeing the reaction of 2080Ti owners at the moment is like those people who pick up a new car on reg plate change day and promptly drive it into the back of a bin lorry.

It should result in a feeling of empathy for their plight but, really, £1400 for a GPU? LOL

Loving the various memes out at the moment and now trying to justify changing my rig for something worthy of the new GPUs. NVIDIA have done it right this time.

This is how I imagine OP watching the 3000 series presentation:

Then comes to post here about a upgrade scheme. Ahahahaha :D
