Nvidia Spark

Surprised Radxa Orion O6 ARM motherboard with ARM CPU cost around £62.

This will be really very interesting to test PCIE 5 eGPU adapter with ARM Nvidia Spark PC to use RTX 5080 graphic card and upcoming Rubin RTX 6000 series with modded driver to play games same way people use eGPU with x86 Mini PCs. :D

Take my desktop, or make it 'non-user serviceable'?

From my cold. Dead. Nerdy. Hands.
I would actually be quite happy to see some competitive offerings in this space. PC platforms with unified memory and nice small footprints.

I’m not a serial tinkerer though. I haven’t upgraded a CPU in decades, I tend to just buy a system and use for its useful life then sell it and build a new system.

If I could get a Mac Studio like machine with 128gb+ unified memory, x86, but with at least 5080 level GPU grunt. I’m sold.

We will probably never see x86 PC with unified memory and nice small footprints after stubborn AMD forced Intel to killed off debloated x86S project in 2023, I really dont understood why AMD wanted to keep both 16 bit and 32 bit for backward compatible when everybody now run 64 bit apps.

A Mac Studio like x86 machine with 128GB unified memory and RTX 5080 GPU would cost thousands more than console like size ASUS ROG NUC 16 Mini PC with 64GB RAM and RTX 5080 cost closer to £5000.

I was browsing nvidias forums last night, saw some posts about people jury rigging cooling solutions for their dgx sparks. Seems like those things are running hot in those tiny form factors

Fair enough. I've (just to make myself sound hypocritical) got a Mini-PC for slow AI work and it is neat.

But for me, my tinkerable , upgradable PC is just.. I don't want that freedom taken away and I'm sure some SOBs have the plan to.

I ordered an Nvidia FE Spark just to resell it when they inevitably go out of stock

The price has already gone up 10% in the last week since I bought one

What Spark are you talking about? I think this thread is confusing.....there's the DGX Spark....then the RTX Spark which is both laptop and desktop SKUs, and I don't see any nVidia-brand (FE) on the latter?

Ah yeah so the DGX Spark which has been out a while.

I'd like a couple but I think at this point in nVidias product cycle it's daft paying these prices when a new chip is on the horizon. If you're going to pay stupid money for DRAM you might as well wait a bit and get it attached to a better chip.

The design team have missed a trick not using metal foam all round. Would have improved cooling. It looks a little like a brass soap holder and loofah.

Nice!
