Nvidia to AMD

I didn't even mention the 3090 as it's a complete outlier, a joke of a product. Compare the 6900XT to the 3080 and you'll see what I'm talking about with price. The 6900XT should be the card that temps you away from the 3080 but it can't because it's a marginal performance increase for £1k.

So the 6800XT with the 6GB of extra VRAM at the same price shouldn't?
And, if we believe AMD's benchmarks, better performance in most games?

Just arguing with yourself and looking daft pal, G-sync is to lock people in and how many people you seen posted ion here "i'm not buying the 6000 series cards because I own a G-sync monitor" so yes people locked in, success.

Yeah that's what I said, chap.

As for looking stupid...well there's stones and glass everywhere now.

Vram is irrelevant, I can run the 3080 with 2GB overhead or I can run the 6800XT with 8GB overhead, it'll make zero difference in performance. The speed of the RAM on the other hand...

And yes, if we believe AMDs benchmarks that were conducted with hardware that favours their card against stock opposition. That's why I want to see out the box comparisons. I believe the 6800XT will fall short of the 3080 and the 6900XT will show marginal improvement for awful value.

DLSS and RT again "Attempting" to lock people in but so far without success though again on these very boards people posting "Without the same RT performance in AMD i'm not purchasing the 6000 series from AMD" So again Nvidia locking people into their systems.

They're not "attempting" or "trying" to lock people in with DLSS and RT... They're simply functions.
By your logic any company that offers a function that a competitor's product does not offer is them trying to "lock in" the consumer. That's just ludicrous lol :D

G-sync locks people in because it's a separate product that once purchased people will want to use so they must buy an Nvidia GPU or they lose functionality
The same can be said for AMD's 'Rage Mode'. Owners of AMDs upcoming 5000 series may feel more compelled to purchase an AMD GPU or they won't get the full benefit of their 5000 series CPU

Is it so hard to understand? Locking consumers into certain brands requires more than 1 item. It requires making the consumer lose functionality in a product if they decide to use a different brand for a separate purchase.

Thing is @no_1_dave when it comes to G-sync there was an industry standard or group that defined the spec and it could have been "not locked in". However nividia ran with it then put in a module bumping up the cost of the monitor by another margin. This was the issue as quite rightly put, people that have these monitors now have bias for future purchases or its a feature thats dead if they switch away.

I get your point about the rage mode, but thats AMD now deploying same tactics intel/nvidia use but nonetheless its something most gamers raise an eyebrow at as its not entirely good for 'gaming' ethically.

We'd still be waiting for desktop VRR if it was left to the industry (seriously). Even now the adaptive sync standard is woeful under the hood in comparison to G-Sync (it is literally a bunch of technologies duct taped together to work) and seriously needs an update - no one is pro-actively pushing it behind the scenes :(

They have to have some vested interest in it. When they do they suddenly work nicely together like nvidia and M$ do when it comes to ray tracing..
