Fireblade2K4 thank's for the advice. To be honest I am just getting into gaming.. my mate and me always liked FS2004 so I guess I just wanted a better experience. My mate told me to get the 9500GT and he play's a right few games! It's clocked @ 650MHz but I can't do much else as I don't know how to clock or do it properly! Regs; Phil

Well as far as clocking your kit goes you will find info on here but you are going to have to trawl through loads of threads.

Your best bet is to head to google and search there for overclocking info, there is LOADS out there, guides, videos the works which will tell you what to do, the software to download etc ... but one word of warning, do your research before you start overclocking stuff make sure you know what you are doing and so on as it CAN go disasterously wrong, but on the other hand can give some GREAT gains if done correctly.

I still don't get it.... I have a PS3 and a PC and I game mainly on the PC. My PS3 is my media player under the plasma.

9500GT is based on the G96 core so it should manage around 700-750Mhz on the core - tho you might have to unlink shaders once they get to 1500-1600MHz to get the core higher. Should be a decent bump over stock.

Same use my PS3 gets then lol. At the moment I do mostly game on my XBox 360 as I moved away from PC gaming some 3-4 years ago when I got fed up of upgrading to play the latest games, however I do miss the Keyboard+Mouse action so I am now starting to get back into it all be it slowly.

Maybe i'm confused, but is the case that he basically bought a card based on his friend's advice, asked people's opinions on here about it, and then got annoyed cause they were negative?

There's no point clocking it, bit like putting an extra twist in a rubber band powered plane. It's woefully under powered as a game card.

Depends - I have a pair of 8500GT here that were planned for media PCs but while toying with them I found they go well over 700Mhz from a stock of 450Mhz... one tapped out at 720 and the other managed 760... with about 60% increase on the shader clock on each... which is pretty much the equivalent of SLI out of a single card...

I actually held the 3D Marks 06 WR for 8500GT SLI for ages until someone came along with cherry picked DDR3 versions of the card that aren't available retail :(

Could be, but I'm not going to pretend I have the slightest idea what his beef is....

In the other thread people advised him not to go ahead with it but he ignored them. I think he thought they were playing at one up manship.

Rrof - thank's for that - Im just getting into PC gaming and my mate suggested I got this card. I could not pick a good ATI card from a bad one, then he took me to the dark side - Nvidia. I knew he was a bad egg !! lol ! What you suggest as an upgrade from the 9500GT man?

Yeah but still utterly pointless in actual use. Now a 9600GT for a little more, what's that 2.3x the texture/pixel fill rate. 9500GT is a bad choice for games, doubt it would even serve well for PhysX.
