Nvidia's mainstream Fermi is not delayed.....

Im on the same GTX295 boat, DX11 is making me want to change and the upcomming titles, and I'm not waiting for June thats a fact.
DX11 is a waste of time right now. One of the sites did a test on it using Dirt 2 and found it made very little difference to the visuals yet hammered performance.

As usual, the first cards to implement a new version of DirectX do so very poorly. I'd wait for the next generation, be that from ATI or NVidia.

As for the Fermi delays, doesn't surprise me at all tbh. It's the usual cycle of things - when one company falls significantly behind the other, as NVidia have done relative to ATI recently, they may as well step back and take their time coming up with a proper competitor. This has happened time and time again with both CPUs and GPUs.

This isn't good for impatient people like me!

I have £50 and a 8800GT to sell, but there's nothing I can buy for that money atm. I don't want an ATI 48-- series: too hot, too loud, too power-hungry.

I wonder if there will be a Fermi mainstream card for <£100 that out-performs the 8800GT. Somehow I doubt it.

I just can't blow £200 on a gfx card anymore, and I value a silent PC as much as I value performance. It's tough being me!

I'd rather have the choice of DX11 even if the difference in graphics is small, I like every bit of eye candy possible, and AvsP and BC2 I think certainly will have nice DX11 touches to them.

I prefer NV cards tbh hense the reason on holding out, but asking me and my ready money to wait to June with several DX11 titles comming out before then.....well it isnt going to happen.

ATI have won this round I think, here ATI have my £530 Nvidia pound notes, now....what about stock :(

5770?

i hope the new nvidia cards are good, i'm not in a hurry but i do fancy a change.
the 4850 which i bought shortly after launch was superb for the price....i tried a 4890 and it was good but hmmm.
i miss nvidia :(

Yeah I quoted £130 because Club3d is essentially a "no name" brand :p 1-year warranty? Oh, you're really spoiling us, Club3d :p

£100 for a 2nd hand is an interesting conundrum. On the one hand, the cards are really new and you can't expect the seller to take a big loss.

On the other hand, as soon as you buy 2nd hand you have no warranty, no guarantees, nothing. So the buyer is then taking a big risk - is a saving of £17 worth the chance of getting a card which fails in a couple months and leaves you out of pocket for £100?

Anyway, that 2nd hand 5700 prices look identical to GTX260 2nd hand prices. Still a little pricey for 2nd hand, IMHO.

I bought my 8800gt 2nd hand for £60, and I felt that was an acceptable risk. Actually it's been a great card with no problems for over 2 years now.

Perhaps the 260 will be a similar price after Fermi availability... perhaps not. Either way, £100 is a bit too much of a gamble for me, when money is tight. But then I'm just poor, and PC gaming is not a great hobby when you're skint :p
