NXE Official thread

Anyone know where to get this background? Looks pretty awesome.

What's the loudest game out of:
GoW 2
Fable 2
Fallout 3
Dead Space

I'll probably be only able to install one of those at a time, according to my practically empty hard drive i have 13 and a bit gigs of space on it :\

Well, I would say you should install Fable 2, as it is probably the quietest (in terms of in game sounds) and so the noise from the Xbox 360 will be more apparent.

With all the guns and explosions from GoW it will drown out the noise anyway.

looks like ryu's street fighter 2 stage, infact due to all the Street Fighter stuff on the page I'd say definately, is it not in the marketplace under street fighter?

You did move the disc to the other machine didn't you?

Yes of course, and i'm logged in with my profile too.
It gives you the option to 'play from hard drive' but when you select that option it just pops up with 'This can only be played on the console it was installed to - please delete and reinstall'.

I suppose I could delete it and reinstall it, but that would rapidly become tiresome.
I'd much go along the memory-card route, but at nearly £30 for 512megs it's yet another expense.
I'm guessing that if I want to download demos etc, then I can choose to save these to the Hard-drive, therefore leaving the memory card free for profile and saves?

Is it possible to put your profile and all your saves onto a MU and just move between consoles then? That would be a god send for me. I have a 256Mb MU but I haven't used it. If I got another hard drive it would mean all I would have to do is move the MU between consoles :)

Well, this has just ******* me right off!

I wouldn't have bothered buying a new ****** hard drive if it's only going to be handy some of the time. What were they thinking?

And why do they care as long as you have the disc in the drive?

STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just put a Elisha Cuthbert picture on the NXE as a background picture and all you can see is her head.

It's quite a good feature by MS that if you put your own custom picture as a background you can see next to none of it. If you buy a theme you see much more.

Yes, that's what I'm now looking to do. It seems that my profile is about 6megs with saves no larger. My GOW2 save is only 1meg so I reckon we could save a fair bit onto the drive.
Not sure what happens about DLC though. I would imagine that you can save DLC to the hard-drive, but that may limit our 'multi HD setup' somewhat.

Awesome, I think I'll do this then. I probably won't bother with a 2nd HDD though, I'll leave that on the main 360 and then just use the MU in the bedroom for the purposes of save games and using my gamertag.

The problem is that some games saves will take way more than 512mb. I was looking at this on my 360 the other night.

I guess it varies from game to game. I could probably do with deleting some of my old saves anyway.

Which ones? I'm looking through my entire list and the only game with large saves is Bioshock - taking 100megs. (each save seems to be around 8megs which seems large).
All my other saves are tiny.
I'm more aware that any DLC that I store on a HD won't work on the second console if I go with the memory-card route (unless I download those twice - is that possible?)

Not hear my 360 now so couldn't tell you. Perhaps it was not jsut saves I was looking at but DLC as well. I dunno.

But the install being tied to the console is jsut so daft. I don't know what they were thinking.

Seems like an anti piracy decision to me. Tie the Install file to the console ID and stop it being shared (just in case someone creates a no-cd crack or something for the NXE).
