NXE Official thread

I did notice it spins up the drive (couldn't understand why as I had been playing from HDD). Didn't notice it taking longer with GOW2 either tbh.

Just tried it with GoW2 and it's the same, before NXE pressing guide then Y would have you back at the dash pretty much instantly, it's a few seconds now. Like I said, no real big deal but I noticed it right away.

My enthusiasm for this update has been severely tarnished by the fact that the install is restricted to the console it was first installed on :(

Might just sell my 120gb drive on now, as its 50% useless to me...

oh, but wait, I can't move everything back on to 20gb using the migration kit can I? Of course not! MS wouldn't want to make it easy!

Midnight Club: LA is acting weird since installed to the HDD. When hitting start or the guide button, the game video freezes and the audio repeats whatever sounds are playing, music continues, then after a few seconds the game pauses/guide appears. Similar delay when going back to the game.

I had something strange happen with fallout 3 once installed, I couldn't put my finger on it at first but on closer inspection it looked like a few textures weren't loading properly. When I went inside the Washington monument the corridor seemed to be closed off by a massive texture that I could walk through to get to the elevator.

The draw distance seemed better although that could just be me, the loading seemed a lot faster In some instances but I had another weird moment while in the monument, I tried using the elevator, it seemed to load but I was still in the same place at the bottom floor and not at the top of the monument where I was going.

The pit-boy seemed to pause and skip more noticeably between menus. I hope that it's just something strange with the install. I've reinstalled and I'll heck to see if that worked later.

I'm stuck at work and I suddenly just realised that my housemates have the day off uni today so are probably going to go on my 360. They probably will mess it up knowing them, and althought it probably sounds silly I wanted to be the one who installed the update and got to see it first :(

So by installing games to the hard drive can I sell the original and still play them?

Yes.

Quickly install them all and take them down the high street and exchange for CASH before the prices on the games drops, once the 2nd hand ppl realise.

Why the hell would you sell the drive anyway. I have two xbox's as well. I just install to the one I use most and then use the disc to play on the other. Its hardly much hardship because I would still need to carry the disc from upstairs to downstairs anyway.

Next to nothing has changed from before.

Back up your game saves and downgrade to the 20, you won't though.

It's not like you cannot play the game.

So let me get this straight. If you install a game to a harddrive, does it then lock the game to that specific console? As in, if i had two and were to install it to one, then take the disk to the other console and try and play it it wouldn't work?

Getting mixed reports on this, some say you can still play the game in the other console, others say you have to uninstall it from the first console before you can play it in the second.

All discs are identical and the drive can't write anything to the disc, so no, it can't tell.
