NXE Official thread

Any idea where the little icon that shows how much battery power your controller has left has gone? Used to come up when you pressed the centre X button thing whatever it's called, but I can't see it anywhere.

That's where it should show up, is it plugged into your xbox?

No it's wireless, all I get is my gamer pic of my avatar and the time above the box that comes up, that's it, unless it looks completely different now and I'm missing it?

Edit: Here's a pic of what I get, anyone wanna point it out to me? :p

Hmm just tried it. I pressed the guide button to bring up the mini dash and it wasn't there. I waited a few seconds and a controller logo and a battery logo appeared in the top left, so it should be there. I'm using the rechargeable battery pack if that makes a difference.

Thought I would install Naruto to see how it was.

Xbox was very quiet but my main problem is the projector thats louder than anything, going to take it down tonight and try again with GTAIV. :)

Love the speed of the NXE, much quicker than the old one, only downside is that a game that played perfectly (Scene it! BOS, 4 days old) comes up with disc unreadable errors, when it worked fine the night before....

Looking forward to sticking Fallout3 on the hard drive :D

I had another quick play with this again this morning. I love it, it is so fast and easy to navigate. I was a little concerned about how easy it would be to find things, but it is awesome.

GOOD JOB MICROSOFT

Woohoo, Falout 3 actually runs smoothly now.

Used to plagued with freezing and choppy play, frequent disc read errors - Install to HDD and it runs perfectly now :)

Weird side-effect of running PGR4 off the HDD is that post-race music sometimes slows down, very odd.

Only game I tested the install with is Mass Effect.

Seems to stutter a bit now, which I don't remember it doing before... I do remember some frame rate issues, but not stuttering.

The load times on lost odyssey are so much faster now. I've only installed one disc so far, I don't think I could wait to install all four.

Well after another 15 minutes sat with the power lead out my console worked again last night. I am 99% sure the 3 red lights are linked to the update as it crashed straight after downloading NXE, then played GOW2 for 3 1/2 hours straight then crashed again as I was trying to join a party then was fine for an hour of COD5  A quick google shows that most games forums show that a few unlucky people have RROD after the update, many more permanently than mine.

I think I might swap from boot to dash back to boot to game and keep my dashboard use to a bare minimum to try and minimise the problem :)

The initial load of Fallout3 seems a bit faster than before but other than that installing to harddrive seems to make little difference. Same goes for COD4.

Heat isn't what kills components, it's heat cycling though (Or rate of change of temperature to be more precise). Since there is no more heat being generated when you turn it off it will cool naturally at a slow pace.

Go look up heat flux.

Idling is better for rate of temperature change.

I have a confession to make....

I normally hate cutesy things... but I find myeslf really liking the avatars :)

I liked the idea anyway, but now they are in place I absolutely love them. I think it is awesome having a little character to represent you.

:D

And yes, the idea might be a rip off of Mii's, but they are SO much better than those weird limbless freaks (at least when you're playing tennis)
