Went to the leeds open evening last year (i had just left school and finished college, so looking for my first job) then got invited for the assessment day where i almost got through to the interview stage (they only take a handful on to that stage which is in the afternoon). When others left the person leading the apprenticeship recruitment programme who was i guess the head of it (spoke at open evening etc) said i was impressive but lacked life experience (which i suppose also meant work experience+confidence), he then said feel free to apply next year but still not sure whether or not to bother as i am currently in a job now.
I was 16 and most of the others were at least 20 and some even older which makes me question the apprenticeship scheme. Had also applied for the bt apprenticeship which is similar but didnt get through the "Line of Manager" second sift. Same happened this year when i applied.
I will tell you one thing, they seem to take a long time going through applications/making decisions. Well O2 wasnt so bad but with BT it was months before i heard anything.
Hi just wondered what was involved in the first interview stage. Does anybody know? I know it won't be that intense as is is an interview for an interview (assessment day). Just wondered if anyone knew any sort of questions etc
I went to the open evening and asked this question. From what I remember being told - the first day, is a full day, and in the first half of that day you have to do some sort of presentation on yourself. Think this has to be done infront of everyone else. By that point about half of the applicants will be told they are done for the day. Those who stay, will then go on to do other things, and be invited to the next interview stage.
White rose centre if anyone is interested!Huge place the Leeds HQ, next to a big ass shopping centre as well so plenty to do at dinnertime
