Looks like o2 snapped the deal from favourites Vodafone. I'm quite happy, hopefully I may be able to get it on upgrade. Just need to see how the work in the real world 1st before order it mind heh.

From what I've read though they are still only offering it with a GPRS/EDGE data, no 3G, which seems pretty pointless given that only Orange AFAIK have an EDGE network in the UK.
Without 3G I am certainly not interested in having one.

i think apple could make a lot more money selling it on all networks, but it all depends on how much of a bung 02 are giving steve jobs!

3g is a must

I think i may have to get one and sell it straight away....most likely make more than the £450 I got from my N95! :)

apparently looking at the £300 mark, but that doesn't say if that's for the 4GB or 8GB model. I'm assuming 8GB as that is currently selling for $599

wonder if they will release a 3g version for EMEA

Under UK law, phones must be unlockable on request for a small admin fee (usually about £20).

Don't know why Apple have gone with O2. O2 don't have an EDGE network and their 3G coverage is the worst in the country. Apparently they don't currently offer flat rate data because their network wouldn't be able to cope.

o2 does seem a poor network choice, as i found their 3g very flaky last time i used a phone on o2 about 6 months ago. Sounds like they were most willing to bend to apples demands for revenue sharing. Suppose at least if they have gone with o2, a 3g iphone is surely a given, as I can't imagine they'd launch with a GPRS only handset in 2007.

I'm assuming it will be 300quid on an 18month contract at around £40-50 per month going by us prices, which is too expensive imo for the uk market.

It's not O2. An O2 spokesman said: "The news is currently still just rumours, so O2 can make no further comment."

Where did you hear that? Not that I'm disputing, just curious hehe.

This phone is supposed to be a big internet phone like the N95, but with O2 at the helm what can we expect? O2 are diiire for data rates, and anyone would choose the other carriers over them if data is just taken into account, so will they introduce data packages or are we all going to face the same rubbish all over again?
