i think your a little confused....
all adsl lines are maintained by BT Openreach, even BT internet. However you have to remember that BT owns BT openreach but does not run it - theres a big if seemingly small difference.

BT openreach in a way, are friends of all the bigger companies....well friends in that it makes them a lot of money and there would be 0 infrastructure if they werent around. :cool:

you never go through bt openreach at all so your not with them your with o2, even bt customers are with bt not bt openreach (again see above for why) , its the equivalent of buying a car then complaining to the highway agency when it breaks down - you just dont do it.

No, i'm not with O2, O2 cannot physically get their own line to me :p

But i'm aware of what BT Openreach do
 
If signing up to o2 be sure to read the fair usage notes - they have changed negatively since I join a couple of years ago. If you want really unlimited then now go BE again checking the small print - they are more expensive than o2 they are now justifiying their existance by being the upmarket arm of o2.
I am staying on my 7.50 a month when my contract ends this month. I should like a phone package but that would start a new package at he new rates
I am in Southampton and was once with Virgin but they have no management and the service is crap.

I had a chat with VM, told them about O2 offering the services for £22 a month, VM said they'll knock £5 off so it'll be £22 for phone, 10mb internet and free weekend and evening calls....that's that then.

With VM I can also upgrade to 50 or 100mb if need be, which I can't with O2 of course.

O2 are supposed to call me, so if they go lower than £22, I'll consider them but what bothers me is the fact that if i move to O2 and they turn out to be total crap, I'll have to move back to VM, who will charge me fees and will treat me as a new customer, and the £10 discount I am already getting, will be lost.

O2 will have to really step up to match that, maybe couple of months worth free internet, you never know (wishful thinking perhaps).
 
VM? What are the downloads and cap limits like?

Double check the O2 usage limits as someones said, id rather pay a couple quid more if its going to be faster and more reliable and less likely to cut me off :p
 
VM do have a fair usage policy but I've yet to hear or see it being inforced, perhaps you really have to go over the top.

O2 said its "unlimited" at first, when I told them that there is no such thing, the guy said it's 100gb a month, and that it's ok if you go over it once a while.

I'm also on Access... and it's an abomination.

Unlimited also means 40GB/month if you joined pre-Sept or 20GB/month post-Sept.

I've not had any issues really

I dont download things, just use it for the internet in general :p And then the odd gaming session
