O2 network down for some

My phone was fine last night when I went to bed - no signal this morning when I got up. Restarted the phone and it came back, but had gone again by the time I got to work.

Have my upgrade in 2 weeks, so perhaps this will give me a bit more bargaining power ;)

As a rival, it's hard not to smirk. Is there any info about as to why it's broken? I'm guessing HLR due to the type of outage but if anyone knows more... :)

My phone was fine yesterday, but since waking up this morning I have no signal at all.

Can't complain though, always had a good service from them dating way way back, far better than every other network for my area.

These things happen to every company in one way or another :)

Mine was fine yesterday but this morning it's saying no sim card.

I bet this is the day Jennifer Aniston tries to call me ffs :(

Read somewhere that it is indeed a HLR problem.

It was odd that we lost all our WAN connectivity for a few hours around the same time O2 first started to die - wonder if there was a large connectivity issue that cause the HLR to become inconsistent and the O2 guys have spent the time bringing it back into sync??

I moved from Vodafone to GiffGaff yesterday and activated my SIM - no service. Then found out O2 were having issues. Left it until today at 9am. Plugged in GG sim again and it connected fine. Text/Phone and Data is solid as a rock :)

Just to put a positive spin to this I'm pretty sure I read that Vodafone and O2 Mobile networks are planning to merge much like t-mobile and orange did so they can compete for coverage.

From what I understand would not have helped the issue, as the problem stemmed from the handset being unable to re-register to the network as it does so on a periodic basis.
