O2 Sync Speed Decreasing

Hi all,
A few weeks ago I upgraded to O2 Premium broadband, and was advised that our line could support 13 meg. Now when we started the broadband, all was well, getting speeds of around 12.5 meg, which was a pretty good upgrade from the old 2 meg broadband we had.
However, over time, the router sync speed kept steadily decreasing, and eventually it hit 9 meg, so we called O2 up and explained to them and they set the sync speed back up to 12.8 but, as before, the speed has steadily decreased since then to the current low of 9,070kbps.
The router is now plugged into the main BT socket in the house (although it wasn't originally), so I was wondering if you folks had any idea on how to solve this, as it's annoying knowing that my line can obviously support a faster speed that I'm getting.
Here are my router stats for reference:
Link Information

Uptime: 0 days, 7:09:45

DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.0

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 17.5 / 33.0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 3.0 / 9.5

Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM

Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 32 / 0

Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Loss of Link (Remote): 0

Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 74 / 0

FEC Errors (Up/Down): 215 / 366,055

HEC Errors (Up/Down): 4,720 / 812

Thanks in advance :)

what equipment are you using.

are you using o2 wireless modem which was given to you.

if you want to increase your sync speed. i suggest you buy a netgear modem which supports dgteam firmware. this will allow you to adjust the sync rate for yourself.

another suggestion is to sync your modem at off peak times. ie late at night or early morning.

Does the downstream SNR margin stick at 9.5dB even if you restart the modem? It's above-default, which makes me wonder if your connection's settling down to a stable point (perhaps with a helping hand from DLM).

Loss of signal 32 times in 7 hours? that's a lot of errors for that time period too. I'd say there was something interfering with the line, e.g a dodgy termination/ cable or the modem is a bit rubbish. If your 9.5 SNR is steady there's no reason why you should lose signal that many times.

This looks interesting! Might have to invest in one of these :)

Have you tried connecting directly to the test socket underneath the master socket's face plate? Un-do the screws on the BT socket's faceplace and remove it, you will see an extra socket inside which is the test socket, connect up and make sure only the router is connected and no phones (making sure nothing else can interfere with the connection) and then post back the line stats again when connected to the test socket. To me something is obviously interfering with your connection as with a 33db line you should easily see a 15MB sync.

re-sync'ing your router in the evening / night time is not recommened either as you will most of the time connect at a lower speed because of other things like lamp posts affecting the connections during the night. I find the best time to re-sync is at 9am and for me it sync's at my normal 6600kbps but say if it looses the sync at 9pm at night and reconnects again the best it will connect at is 5500kbps, but i suppose if you connected at a lower sync your SNR margin will benefit & increase so you have a more stable connection.
