Hey guys.

After just reading the manual, i cant really decide whitch class to be.

What would you reccomend?

Also, can every single class be a thief?

Thanks in advance.

If you want to be a thief, try being an Aragonian (sp), as they are athletically very good, and have the nighteye ability.

Yes, every class can be a thief.

I'd actually say Kajhiit or Bosmer make better thieves, but that's just me. Yes, any class can be a thief, but look for classes with high agility. I'd also suggest the sign of The Thief (obvious eh). But be warned: emphasise too many stealth skills and the main quest will be VERY hard, as it's aimed more at fighter types.

Note that just before you exit the character generation area you get a final chance to change everything.

Alchemy imho

Ingredients are very light so you can earn a lot off a farm raid. Probably not the case when you get to high level loot though.

Ahh, i dont know whats up with oblivion. Its gone laggy on me again.

When im in a town it will be jerky.

Res is set on the lowest, and the sliders are neally all the way to the left,

Grass is off, self shadows are aswell... etc...

Any other settings i could fiddle with to make it a bit more smoother?

Intel Celeron D 2.93GHz

2 GIG Ram

My gfx card is a 6800 16 pipes - unlocked.

Im sure this game should run ok, but it isnt :(

Cheers

Thanks for your replies.

What skill would you say earns best money? Would it be thieving?

Nothing, because all rewards are leveled. That is, a level 1 thief will find level 1 items (worth nothing much) whether dungeon-diving or stealing. Alchemy is slightly different because it is skill-based in its rewards, but until your skill is high then potions you make aren't worth much, particularly if you are still using novice equipment. The kinds of money that you could make in MW are gone because the game prevents you from taking more than five potions at once, so the "Fortify Intelligence" exploit has gone. In many ways Oblivion is a heavily nerfed version of MW.

Most money you get in the early days is from quests. You can also try betting on the Arena - just remember how useful save-and-reload is... :D

What's the rest of your system specs - RAM, CPU etc.

I've got a bosmer as a thief/assasin, although haven't done much of the MQ, as I want my marksman and sneak maxed (then they're easier to do the MQ). He's recently become a vampire too...

Few tips would be not to solely rely on your arrows for damage - use alchamy/blades/magic as a back up.
Acrobatics is useful for getting to places others can't.

Will be creating a battlemage next...

Be a warrior if you want to walk it (boring imho).

Denic:

I have about the same system (faster processor though) and Pci-e 6800 (so only 12 pipes) but its the 256mb version, and only 1gb of ram.

It runs fine on mine at 1280*720 with decent eye candy on. Did you do the nvidia frames to render tweak?

And small areas with lots of NPC's have always been laggier than running outside for me. Figured this out when I was running it at 1680*1050 and having too much mouse lag in buildings.

Thanks for replying mate :)

Could you tell me what the "Nvidia frames to render tweak" is? Ive never heard of it, i will do ANYTHING to make this game smoother :)

Ive got it working pretty good, but laggy at times, when in towns with lots of people around for example.

1024 x 768 2x aa!

most settings to low

Running decent.

Thanks

Every class can be anything. if you're new to TES then Redguards make an excellent choice as they make good warriors but have the flexibility to be other types of character as well. But like I said, any character can do any job, but some can be better than other

I only have 500gold... Wheres the best place to steal?

Lol no! If you have a bounty, stop stealing! Are you sure you are thieving right? As in using sneak, making sure the eye is dim before entering a building. Entering late at night when people are asleep, making sure people don't see you when you steal etc. I originally made my character to be a thief/marksman, but after a while I decided that thieving didn't bring in too much money (then again that may be me and I didn't look around a great deal). I found just general dungeon raiding makes the most money. Out of the ~300K gold I have made, only 3500 was from selling stolen items.

Nope, the amount you can carry depends on your strength, the more strength you have the more you can carry. Spells that increase your feather increase the amount you can carry for a certain amount of time, these are very useful if you have a lot of loot to carry back and sell from a dungeon.

I go to shops, late at night, pick the lock and steal.

and i dont get caught, this doesnt get me bounty does it?

And when you mention dungeon raids, where are these dungeons?
