OC 4Ghz bundles problem

Introduces issues with the heatsink in transit with an unsecured board then unfortunately.

We are looking at other ways we can improve the bundle, hence the inclusion of a support USB drive with each new bundle shipping from today onwards.

Are you sure the Fenrir was seated correctly with good thermal contact?

Rich had sorted my Titan Fenrir by seated it correctly and re-apply paste on it when I went back to OC's but until I get home I take the motherboard out and fitted into my new case as the temp still too high over 90C after Rich sorted it out. So, I replaced V8 Coolmaster, everything seem ok all day today, temp never go over 78C on the real temp v3.00 and the gigabyte easytune6 cpu temp show as 58C.

Seem ok now as I personal think could be faulty Titan Fenrir ? I wouldn't NOT blame on Rich for why he had use Titan Fenrir rather than other best cpu cooler's. No personal reason. It just my bad luck, unlucky day. !

I had now fitted Thermalright 120 Extreme with the fan that coming from Titan Fenrir fan. Turn on turbo boost in the bios, and overclocked 4.2Ghz at 1.250volt (vcore) and 1.620volt (dram) at 8.8.8.24.

Using Arctic Cooling MX-2 Thermal Compound with a tiny pea size in the middle and then placed the thermalright 120 Extreme cpu cooler on it and tested it.

Room temp : 25C
Idle temp : 39C at 4.2Ghz
Full Load temp : 71C at 4.2Ghz (full load for 6 hours)

I set Tjmax at 100% on the real temp v3.00. Everything very stable for 6 hours full load with temp not touching any 80C yet.

I am glad to choose as my Thermalright 120 Extreme is the best cooling performance out there.

I gotta admit having a sunbeam cooler and tuniq towers they didnt quite match the thermalright 120 that thing just fits so solid and stiff and has an awesome heat transfer going on... and thats in my microwave box room sitting @ 30c atm

I look forward to the newer heatsinks especially the ones with 140mm fans;)

It's a great piece of kit, I don't understand why people no longer view it as No.1 choice for aircooling?

Anyway well done bulldog147, despite getting stressed you managed to sort the problem out in the end!

I do agree with you as I cannot understand why is Thermalright 120 Extreme is no longer as no1 choice for air-cooling.

I am thinking of getting the best 120mm fan x 2 for my thermalright 120 Extreme with a very good heatsink airflow. Can anyones help me which 120mm fan is the best ?

If you don't mind being deaf, the delta fan pushes a serious amount of air :D

190CFM

:) It funny you said if I don't mind being deaf as I am deafness in both ears since birth, so, it doesn't bother me at all. I had order that 'fan' delta fan with 4000RPM from scan co uk last night because overclockers co uk is out of stock.

I look forward to use this fan delivery tomorrow. I will try that tomorrow.

Also, I find it very interesting about how to apply paste proper here:

http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/product_page/chi11_factor/cf2/install_chill_cf2.htm

I did that with these instruction as my idle temperature now at 35C and full load temperature at 67C after 6 hours full load at 4.2Ghz with turbo mode on as I am glad to follow this instruction.

Try it, it will make a lot difference !! :)

Woah 67C full load is very good for air cooling a 4.2GHz i7. And you say that's without the delta fan?

still awaiting for a delta fan arrive tomorrow by city link delivery. Yes, I was amazing of full load of just 67C with the correct paste instruction. I use MX2 paste. I had moved my pc to other room with the wooden floor with no carpet at all. Much cooling room with room temp only at 19C !

I was hoping of drop the temp down to below 60C full load with a delta fan tomorrow :)

Cos I am using Titan Fenrir fan that was current at 2280RPM

Thers is no answer m8, For my sytem which is purely for games and has not seen 55c in game load since day one. I use 3 hrs prime95 plus another some occt and orthos tests to mix it up. The general rule is 8hours prime=stable but then were do you draw the line 10,24,48 hrs as long as it dont crash when your using its its stable regardless of 1million hrs of prime :p
