OC(UK) Host Review :-)

Thanks Arty. I had considered opening the site up to a wider audience but the difficulty would be in keeping it unique compared to all the other 'hosting review' sites out there; moderating the reviews to ensure they were genuine, stopping the site becoming diluted by spam. I do like the way that it is currently ocuk-centric, with mainly UK hosts listed, many of which are small concerns, operated by OcUK members themselves!

I'd love to hear any thoughts or ideas you have though, my e-mail address is [email protected] :).

I've nuked his 'extra' reviews but haven't banned his IP. Hopefully he'll be mature enough not to try again and too instead concentrate his energy on improving his business.

Any suggestions from the community on what to do about the last comment left about Reg1? Eyedot has already asked for it to be removed.

I don't want to arbitrarily censor comments but it does appear to be largely unfounded and most likely is libelous (on the reviewer's part, not ours).

I'm leaning towards removing the potentially libelous part but leaving the rest of the comment and the rating intact at the moment.

Decided to remove it in the end. As TheBeanSprout said, it's not a review, he's also given a false OcUK username and a false e-mail address.

If you're going to make comments like that, you could at least be upfront about it!

Eyedot is far too smug, need to beat his rating. I know a lot of you guys use Registron...if you do, please vote. 21 ratings to beat.

Thanks guys :)

Just for the record, to prevent any accusations of foul play, I've removed this review...

na rated 2host (UK Webhosting Ltd) 1 out of 10

Review text: expensive

...for the same reasons I removed the Reg1 comment - the OcUK username is false, the e-mail address given is false and the comment is unfounded and serves no purpose.

The ochostreview site is up and down like a yoyo :(

No it hasn't. It's been down for an hour (issue was a little more complicated than a single lockup). To my recollection, that's the first time the server has ever crashed in 18 months of service.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused ;).

Daz has come up with a formula for weighting the reviews based on the average rating and the number of ratings but I haven't had time to test it yet. As Killsta says though, you can sort by number of reviews then it's pretty easy to see who the 'favourites' are.

Thanks, fixed it. Lazy coder couldn't be bothered to validate the domains ;-).

(Looks at Matt's sig domain)

Don't forget, the list is not only for virtual hosts but also for domain registration and dedicated server providers too :).

Wow I didn't realise you were an OcUK member Crocket :).

The site probably just belongs to some kid with a $5/month reseller account in the states. It's not worth your time pursuing him - he'll probably get bored with 'hosting' in a week or two and take the site down anyway.

Don't you just love the maturity of some people?

To you, Mr. 84.64.26.122, I salute. Entering "<!--" in all of the fields was an act of pure genius and has shown what a 'n00b' I am by trusting users not to do that.

Ah sorry, that would be down to our friend mentioned in the above post - he rated Serverstream 1 out of 10 then entered <!-- in all of the fields. I'll correct it now ;).
