*** OcUk 2011 Distributed Computing Competition ***

Thank you Mr T, sah. I grovel in humble apology for a snap calculation and lack of common sense at the time. :o The corrected answer is found in my original post.

:D No worries tis just a bit of fun, might have a mooch through the cuboards and add a few daft items to the prize list, must admit am having visions of you running around with the t trolley at work dropping off pics and the puzzle to your workmates :D:D:D

Duly noted chaps, yes all standard dvd cases side on no gaps.

Am actually sat back and the most relaxed i've been for a while, course the fact people are wandering around with T at work quizzing their coworkers and it looks like Mr Marine has gone into shock, Mr Frozennova applying logical mathematical thinking all jolly good fun wot wot :)

Should see what i thought of for christmas Bwahahahaaaaa :eek::D

Go on then i'll take 2375 if your including the full length of the bottom shelf assuming it goes all the way from wall to wall. If your not including the area behind the unit on the bottom shelf the i'll go 2277

Yup yup, full length i see you managed to negotiate the arsenic and nerve gas traps i set in your cell hmmmmphhh:mad: ;) :D

Where would all the naughty films go? ;)

The mere suggestion that i might watch naughty films is both inflamatory and derisory ..... now where's that well worn copy of Debbie Does Darlington :D

If including the hidden area on the bottom shelf: a nice round 2,400

If not including the hidden area on the bottom shelf: a nice round 2,300

I like round figures :)

Top shelf ;) :p

You have a warped and evil brain Mr Marine :)

In fact a complete sherlock holmes collection occupied the top shelf and disney the 2 below, the other stuff well i thought it was in the attic .... still no sign of Debbie Does Darlington ***sigh***:(

*Plans trip to Tbags house and a measuring tape in secret*

 Am going to make a point of not answering the door to strangers with tape measures for the next few weeks.:)

At that resolution I can't really tell how much closer to the camera the right side is than the left side, so by best guess would be 3330 DVDs

and I know I'm not eligible, so if I win, I'll donate my prize to the member who started doing seti for this comp, who has got the most points out of everyone who started seti for this competition. If that makes sense?

edit: btw, that is presuming no stacking of DVDs, or placing them beneath the bottom shelf.

Hi judgeneo afraid you have to actually be in the competition to take a guess take a look at The How section on 1st page of thread, if you feel you could fullfill the requirements then come back to us :)

I'll make a guess at 2830 if crunching for OcUK on DPAD/Muon1 counts?

Thats cool as long as you get 14 days credit while the competition is running, and not forgetting the magic words "in it to win it" to get your name on the entry list :)

Oh I forgot about Muon1 (power to the borg)
Looks like it's just you and me on that now D :(
Didn't get F@H to play nicely after a few tries - just keep my 460 at 2d clocks - very odd

Off to measure a dvd case

Edit: Ok I get 2600
If you packed them tighter than I do add another 30, but 2600 is my offical guess (260 per shelf)
That over 400 disney dvd's

Yup and most of them are headed to a new home just down the road from Berkeley broke teh heart to sell em but ahhhh nevermind onward and upward :)

I'm living with my parents currently and they're not paricuarly happy with so much computer usage, otherwise I would be folding a lot, hence why I was going to donante my prize to the best new folder

Hi Judgeneo, i appreciate your circumstances as i have been in the same situation before but if i were to let you take a guess afraid it wouldn't be fair on the others who have joined and are working real hard to get their 14 days of credit in. :(

i think you're mistaken i've got over 2 million folding points i've been folding for team ocuk since 14th jan 2011

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_list.php?s=&t=10&p=1 position 66

Hi petriodet am not disputing how long you have folded or your total both impressive and am not saying you cannot enter but just take a look at the how section and you'll see you have to be "in it to win it" :)

.....Barbie adventures indeed that was just a nasty rumour put about by someone after my disney collection :D

If course the ultimate answer would be 31337 but unfortunately, its a few too many (even if they were box sets of midget pr0n) :p

So, 3133 will have to do.. (just pretend I have a speech impediment)

:eek::D midget prOn :D

Apologies for the absence and lack of output- two too many people dying in my family :(

anyway, not having done any calculations or anything, my guess is 3751.

Sorry to hear that Mr Grimgoth sah, my commiserations to you and yours hope to see you back soon :(

Well I've done my calculations and I make it:

2932 :)

Best of luck sah :)

What a fiendishly devious question Mr T-Bag - Im going to go for 2560
Id like to claim that i worked it out, but I just looked at the entries so far and picked a number in the range, so pure guesswork :p
I should get a prize for pure laziness!!

Becareful what you wish for ..... i have the worlds worst booby prize lined up for someone .... and it aint pretty ..... quite horrific actually :D

In it to win it.
Crunching as Tel2.
Recent returnee.
aiming to reach top 10 in OcUK in Seti@Home RAC

Duly entered and the best of luck to you sah :D
Don't forget to drop by the seti@home news thread and check the Team OcUk website to see if your crunching efforts have earned you a tiffy and display it in the news thread for all the world to see ..... well us lot anyway :o:)
