OCUK and paypal

Rubbish. Absolute tosh.

Sorry Feekster - you are wrong. Within the rules of the forum show me one single proper company accepting Paypal and I'll accept you are right.

There's a bunch of hi-fi retailers that accept paypal, but yeah, we need to know what his idea of a 'proper company' is before providing examples of them :)

How do you put money onto paypal without a debit or credit card anyway?

Paypal = lots of fraud with no means to control it (when you process the payments yourself you get a lot of information - paypal don't give you tany of that).

I think it's harsh to say proper companies don't use paypal, but it's probably true to say companies with a very high volume of internet transactions don't.

Paypal is poo

There wont be any advantage to Ocuk apart from maybe a couple of extra sales, but itl cost them in fees

So I cant see them bothering :p

You can transfer funds direct from your bank account.

Then if he has a bank account he will have some form of debit card, which he can use. Surely?

Not necessarily.

Well I am a foreigner and I have a solo (but nothing more than that because natwest reckons I might max out my credit card and **** off to the "overseas") so any English bloke with a bank account should at least be able to get a debit and a credit card on top of his overdraft on his bank account or whatever.

Not necessarily - not every adult can get a debit card, even if they have a bank account. It depends on things like their credit worthiness.

By the sounds of it though, the OP just doesn't want one, which would be a bit foolish in my opinion.

Incidentally I also am unaware of any proper company taking PayPal payments.

am i missing something here?

if you dont have a bank account + card, how do you get paid from work?

or do mum and dad pay?

Maybe he has a bank account without a suitable card to buy from OcUK.

But they have to pay fees to process card transactions as it is, PayPal fees are less than a lot of companies charge for merchant account/credit card processing and works out a much better cost effective solution

Also, I can imagine the hassle involved with people attempting charge backs etc. It would need a person working full time just taking care of that? Granted OC would have seller protection, but even that is useless.

Paypal, would be I imagine a lot more hassle and more expensive in the long run than a proper merchant account.
As I think Tele has already said with a proper merchant account you can do your own checks, with paypal you rely on their dodgy system (not good when dealing with purchases of hundreds of pounds - as someforum members can attest to after getting screwed by PP).

paypal is the devil

i swear if im ever rich enough ill buy them and fire every single person who works there
