I am irrationally wondering about the same thing (irrationally because I had told myself I was going to wait for fully new-generation, 28nm cards). The suggestion of a 2nd 5870 doesn't make as much sense to me - crossfire scaling in the 5800s never worked as well as it should have (or at least, it didn't the last time I looked) and power consumption and heat would be a lot worse.
 
gibbo, i'm new to the family so to speak but i notice when you talk about stock, you say 'my' and you're also the one who decides on all the deals/offers. are you the top dog or actually the owner? forgive my ignorance :)
 
These do seem to be very good prices, especially considering the cards have 2GB of very fast GDDR5.

Question: What happens to 6870 prices now that 6970 is only £30-£40 more expensive?

Nope not the owner, but am in charge of Purchasing/Web/Deals etc. :)
 
Must be selling close to 1 card per minute now. Allowing for people having to sleep and reviews in the morning there should be cards left for at least the next day or two, unless the reviews are really good ;)

Oh I'm not complaining about lack of game benchmarks just saying that while tesselation performance is nice if any games come out that, lets be honest, matter in the slightest with tesselation on, its not really the whole story.

As for the pricing, I think I suggested pricing could change very easily several days ago :p

Seriously, AMD's secretive operation and even more, disinformation, I just get this image in my head of a really old british general who came up with ways to spread disinformation to the Nazi's in WW2 hunkered up in an AMD war bunker somewhere under their headquarters.

They really are getting very good at screwing around with Nvidia :p
