Ah well sod it ordered a HIS 6970.:D

Anyone else order a 6970 or 6950 here? if so what did you go for? (or any go for a pair?)

£280 was just sooooo tempting for the performance....
 
Not sure if this helps anyone to decide but did a quick heaven with my 5870's Xfire and gibbo's single 6970 :eek::eek:

well no .....but it has better tessellation than two 5870's.

just wait till tomorrow to make any decisions that way you can read some reviews and make a nice informed decision rather than spend money just on the words of the guy selling them to you. (no offense meant gibbo :) )

Wait for the gaming benchmarks before declaring victory one way or the other. The GTX570 is competetively priced and may just pip the 6970. There's not much other than Heaven results available so far and both cards are neck and neck there.
 
Damn, I was just about to order a 6970 as well but I'm in Scotland, glad I looked here first, no point if it cant be delivered till after xmas. I may as well wait until Sandy Bridge comes out and order it all at the same time. Such a good launch price as well :(

Ive just nabbed that 6970 - 5th row down, 8th from the left! Its mine i tell you, MINE!!

in all honesty, the price is a great for both cards - has there ever been cards released at this price point before (as in day 1) - im out of touch but used to remember new cards being £400 +

Im not going to have time to keep up with reviews tomorrow with work, and will prob be flat out till sunday - if these are real peaches then im sure they will fly off the shelves...if they are lemons (seems unlikely) i can just leave it in its box until i have had time to read up on the reviews.

ill prob upgrade my setup with the new intel stuff (?next year) and may get another for some xfire action!

all nivida cards i have owned have eventually died on me - i think its time for a change :)

Not decalring victory mate, but I would say pretty clear that these are going to be good value.....

Cheapest 580 here £439

Cheapest 6970 £280

Thats a pretty massive gap for circa 10% performance gain....

Hopefully we all beenfit with some lower prices!
 
Jusy ordered my hubby one for christmas then realized i addressed it to his name :( i'll have to send him out on the day it's coming or he will see it lol :) ow well, A fine gift :)
