Yes I'd say so, unless your running several hard drives, optical drives and a lot of case fans all should be fine.

Let me make a comment.

GTX 570 is cheaper, but its more like £20.

However its clear for whatever reasons people preferre the ATI 6970, maybe its down to crossfire scaling or its OC ability.

Let me just say 69xx sales have already overtaken GTX 570 sales, its not even been what 3hrs yet and in 3hrs we've sold more ATI 69xx cards compared to GTX 570 have sold since launch.

Now to me that says something, which is consumers believe at £280-£300 they consider a 6970 to be a bargain, wheras the GTX 570 is not considered so hot, not even at £250......

But why don't you price them at £250 and let ppl decade? I understand perfectly why, from your business point of view. You got tons of 6970 to get rid of.

My point is that they trade punches and 570GTX does give u CUDA and PHYSX which are a little bit crap but at least worth a solid £10.

As for the early glut in sales? 570GTX was such a low key launch half a people on here dont know that the card even exist. Which is nvidias fault really.

We will price GTX 570 at £250 when were sold them for less, but as it stands the 570 cost us more to buy and we have minimal margins which we follow as we want to stay in business and provide good levels of service.

So when NVIDIA give us money to drop price on 570 we shall do, until then our pricing will be in £260-£300 region on the 570. The 6970 is £278-£320 so based on that NVIDIA dont actually need to drop their price as its cheaper than 6970.

Its all down to if NVIDIA want to win business away from ATI or not.


But what I can say is 570 stock is tight, we have like 60 units in stock, so even if NVIDIA do drop the price, a price drop won't come through until stock is easily available, which right now it is not.

So basically NVIDIA need to get more stock into channel on 570/580 and lots more of it, just doing this alone will bring pricing down on the NV cards as it will stop the supply and demand type pricing.


ATI have already said, their pricing will go up in January, albeit a small amount but going up, so again by the time NVIDIA get good volumes coming through they wont need to drop or move pricing.

Were £1 cheaper on 6950 and £4 cheaper on 6970. Also ours are HIS, which is a brand I'd take over Powercolor any day, plus the HIS have power adapters and crossfire bridge in the box.

how did you oc it to that ?

in CCC the limit is 840/1325. i triad the unofficial overclocking in msi afterbuner but

I used MSI after burner, but you need to edit the config file first.

i did enable the unofficial overclocking in the config file.

but it keeps crashing anything over 860mhz~.

did u use the power control? or was that at 0%

The way I did it was this:-

Open up overdrive, slide power control too +20 and fan too 65%

The open MSI after burner and push the clock speed and memory speed. Click apply, then set up a manual fan profile, click apply.

Then go back to overdrive you should now only have two sliders, power control and fan, set power control to +20, leave fan as is, press apply.

Now test for stability.

I will be amazed if you can't get past 900MHz, everyone I have used now which is 6 cards all hit over 900MHz using the above method.


However if your in Crossfire you can't overclock the second card, apart from only in overdrive, I just got blue screen of death even if I tried to downclock the second card which clearly means for crossfire OC support in MSI afterburner needs a patch/fix update.

quick question by using the power control would it vold the warranty with ocuk?

i just tried 10.11 driver i can get to 910 without the power control

No it won't void your warranty.

We allow our customers to overclock their cards as much as they wish, we are overclockers UK afterall.

The only way you will void your warranty is if you start removing the cooler or modifying the card in someway like soldering different resistors on it etc.
