OcUK Computer Keeps Crashing

Hi all,

I've recently bought a computer from OcUK but it crashes atleast once per day (BSODs and/or locks). I'm not complaining, the computer is great. I'd just like to figure out whether it's the overclock on the processor (Q6600 clocked at 2.85... should've been 3+ :()

I don't suppose anyone could look through the Nvidia SysLog file please and come back with suggestions?

Again, I'm not complaining, just enlisting the help of Oc'ers!

Regards,

Brent

Welcome to the Forums :)

Hi mate. Read the sys file. Its a Striker Extreme Mobo (same as mine :)) so I can help with this. (Running mine at 3.6GHz:)

Striker undervolts CPU slightly (Vdroop) and also, list me the full spec details or link to it.

More importantly, what BIOS are you running?

TBH, I dont think OCUK do any sort of stress testing, instead just have a set overclock, eg; E6600 - 3GHz - 1.45. Best just to set it all to default and overclock it yourself.

They do..... I used to be OcUK Tech Manager :D

Strikers are notoriously tricky to overclock and sometimes stability issues can develop over time.

I'll work my magic when "BrentNewbury" posts the info I need.

Well, both me and a friend bought exactly the same system, both had exactly the same overclock with exactly the same voltages set and both were unstable, eg; freezes. We finally had enough and set everything back to default and overclocked it ourselves and everything was fine, wasnt that botherd though, learned how to overclock at least.

Here you go mate: 3.46GHz

Here's a link to the Best BIOS for the Striker Extreme:

Stick it on a USB drive, enter BIOS, select BIOS update and point it at that.

Don't panic if i doesn't....

It is CRUCIALLY important that you find the BIOS version. e.g. "1303", "1305" etc.

Have a go and I'll check back with you in an hour mate :D

Didn't work. More often than not it wouldn't even POST. I got a freeky file checksum error, I'm glad I did it just to see that gem of a message.

I'll just get you the BIOS version.

Right. Got everything working now. Made all the changes you specified, except FSB = 1267 and Mem = 800. Everything was set to what you specified. For some reason, my system is unstable (won't even POST sometimes) when I set FSB to 1333 for 3GHz. Any reason why this would be?

I'm just going to have a game with some mates at the moment. I don't suppose we could do this on here? Purely for documentation purposes for other people. Also, I'm wierd with randomly adding people I've never met... does that sound sad and introverted? :D
