to be fair you arent comparing like to like given the additional RAM on the 7970's compared to the budget 670's
(not saying the additional GB is worth it to all, but even so some of the price differences on nvidia cards from non-oc'd 2gb cards to non oc'd 4gb cards is pretty terrible)

He is though, he's comparing the base spec of both models, just because AMD's base spec includes more RAM doesn't account for anything.
The 670 is still cheaper for around the same performance and arguably better drivers.

I'd rather pay the little extra, plus a 7970 can be had for £330 if you shop around. Also, the performance is not the same, the 7970 scores higher in the benchmarks I've seen.
when purchasing AMD its unquestionable one gets more hardware for the money (where it counts), whether resolution etc you prefer uses that ram is another question entirely
Personally I would still choose to have the base model with additional ram - as drivers are more than likely going to improve over the lifetime of the card, just try and add some ram to your nvidia card lol, without buying a whole new card
As stated above - they can be found for the same kind of price anyway - so 7970 gets it for me
