OcUK GUIDE TO ORDERING YOUR AMD 9070 GRAPHICS CARD TODAY AT 14:00

HI there

The MSRP SKU's I shall attempt to put live later are:
Sapphire Pulse XT
Powercolor Reaper XT
Asrock Steel Legend XT
Gigabyte Gaming XT

No guarantees as the OC XT I've instructed to go live are not doing so, but the NONE XT's did go live as did some NV cards.

Will be later, I shall post again 5 minutes before doing so, but if it does not work we shall have to wait until tomorrow.

So what am I supposed to be doing now exactly? I've been here since 2 PM. Missed sleep and spent the whole day so far on this... No idea if my earlier order went through, bank charged but nothing in my order history. No clarity regarding that. Is the next wave happening at 10 PM? Am I supposed to go away and come back and spam refresh at 10 PM? Are they going to be available to everyone or just a secret club of highly-active forum members? I'm not in that elite club, but am a paying customer and have been here for several hours trying to make a purchase. :(

Do whatever you wish, its your choice. :)

Any chance of a partial refund for my steel
Legend @Gibbo? It seems mine and a few others bought them at £649 and yet they were on at MSRP at 2pm and now they are back at MSRP again.

Was the price increase a mistake with all the issues?

Nope Asrock caved in and offered to let me do 10 more.

Nothing we can do about your orders sorry, apart from return it for a full refund.

I know this but gibbo himself said here the prices should go up for MSRP cards to 629.99 after the MSRP allotment is gone, id be happy with that price. Im not happy with an extra 35+ pounds on top of that.

The Steel Legend was never an MSRP card. Asrock don't offer a base card, as such they offered us support to sell 10 at MSRP at a big cost to them, we sold those 10 earlier today.
End of today they had permission to do 10 more, those were sold tonight.

I spoke to them this evening, they cannot authorise any additional support, the Steel Legend cost a lot more than a Pulse/Reaper as its a higher-end card with more expensive cooler, hence its correct price is £659 which gives OcUK 8% margin, the lucky ones who got one at £569 are very lucky as that card will never be that cheap again.

As such if you are unhappy with yours, you are welcome to cancel your order for a full refund, but we have no more funds to be able to offer any more at a loss.

If I may, I'm pretty sure highly reputable youtubers, hardware unboxed, pc builder and a host of others have said that the steel legend was the cheaper budget card alongside the pulse & gigabyte variant, so interesting to see your view as you say it's a higher end card but what do youtubers know.. with their millions of combined subscribers, that's why on every-site selling the cards alongside OC it was part of the 3 cheapest variants of 9070xt also riddle me this, 569.99 + 30-60 pound increase as you mentioned puts the card at a maximum price of 630.. so?? Why did mine cost 657.98 I clearly don't know maths :)

Asrock charge us a lot more for a Steel Legend compared to a Reaper / Pulse. Hence why the latter are £629 versus Steel Legend £659

Asrock have Challenger in their lineup as the price competitive part, as they had none ready for this launch, they went with their next card up the Steel Legend, hence it costing them more to do.
If they cost us same as Pulse and Reaper, we would sell them for the same, but they simply do not.

Asrock could have managed their MSRP better, but in a way I pressured them to do more, they decided to do more and I offered it, in hindsight that was a mistake now with that extra batch of 10 coming after several had already sold at £659.

As its a rebated price and it is now all used up, there is nothing we can do apart from offer you a full refund and cancel the order.

Gibbo also said in the opening post of this thread that he advised against using PayPal, as although it appears faster at your end, it can take a lot longer (hours) for the funds to be released, which is the point at which your oder is confirmed.

..... Was that what you meant by backlash? :p

If you can setup Paypal to not authorise like some people have, then in theory that should be very quick.
The biggest issue we see is Amazon can glitch and finance takes a long time.

At one point yesterday we were selling 100+ cards of one SKU every 15s, hence the authenticating process would slow the transaction and thus the stock sold out.

AMD have a monster on their hands, a good situation for them but demand is crazy, even the OC cards sell out in minutes.

Crashing again? With increased prices and not release day lol

That is why I dropped the hint here, because you guys literally have around five minutes before the traffic swoops in and starts buying them all up.

We do have several deliveries due today and next week, so we might have more available later.

We have sold around 5000 units now, warehouse is working very hard to get them all shipped out today. :)
