** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

@gibbo,

Asked a question earlier(post 13), no reply yet.

Have you missed it or am I to assume no answer equates to nothing outwith Asus/Evga is covered for cooler removal?

I'm pretty sure EVGA allows removal of the cooler. You just need to attach it back if youy're sending it for RMA. It's the same for MSI. Not so sure about other brands.

Can anyone tell me if it's likely that an EVGA Hybrid card is likely to perform the same as, say a FTW with custom watercooling? I don't really know much about custom watercooling, just interested

The FTW with custom water cooling will likely work better, since the entire card will be under water as opposed to only the GPU. And obviously there are other benefits too like being able to use larger/more radiators with lower rpm fans for silence and improved cooling performance and aesthetics.

Anyone buying the FTW and not planning to watercool it is wasting their money. Pretty confident you won't see any additional OC ability over the SC version if you just run it on the air coolers.

Not really I wont be putting mine under water, but for an extra £20 to get a card that has a better power delivery, extra 8 pin connector, thicker heatsink and overall will deliver better power to my gpu it was a no brainer to spend the extra £20 :)

£30.. But yeah that's fair enough. I actually thought the SC was a bit more cheaper than the FTW.

But my point still stands that anyone looking for extra OC ability on an air cooled FTW vs. the SC will be disappointed.

Evga 100% allow it, MSI used to allow western users breaking the warranty void seal and allow cooler removal, but trying to find current policy(which counts) is another matter.

I have read multiple posts from various employees that paying that little bit extra is down to the superior customer support here-currently not feeling it.:(

Good info, thanks man :)

Being too busy today with launch, I shall ask various board partners over the next week or two what their stance is, but I won't be on the forums now for a couple of weeks as I am off to Taiwan for a few weeks, so will feed back when back in UK. :)

Agree on the high posting over multiple thread crowds are too vocal, it is predictable, there is an ignore function or just plain don't read it.

As OcUK is an enthusiast forum, enthusiasts are allowed to display when they are happy/unhappy of what they feel in the current climate imo-it just happens a higher no of users aren't happy than is happy.

Disabling their vocality is eating into the vendors hand imo, they are monitoring opinions, whether they are bothered is another matter.:)

If i put them on ignore how could i tell if they are behaving :)

And you actually think the vocal ones are the majority? From the sales Gibbo just mentioned I would strongly disagree, and to be honest some of the people posting would moan about Nvidia if they gave the cards away.

So if keeping under £600 it seems the Inno3D 3 or 4 fan config is the best value in terms of clock speeds, anyone have any experience with them or is it really worth splashing more ?

currently deciding if 1 mini fan is worth £20 extra otherwise

Thanks for posting that. I went for the SC (to upgrade my SC 970) and didn't see the need to get the FTW over the SC for another £30.

@Gibbo

Want to share how the pre-orders are breaking down across the models? All the EVGA peeps on here seem to be going for the FTW, which makes me more glad I went for the SC - more likely to get it sooner I guess!

Sales are as follows:

1. FE Editions have sold most, but due to stock and so many variations.
2. Asus Strix - best selling custom card.
3. EVGA FTW - Only literally a few units behind the Strix.
4. Zotac Extreme - This one is accelerating, once Zotac announce clock speed and I am hoping for 1950-2025Mhz boost clock and factor in 5yr warranty this could rival the Asus and EVGA for sales. :)

I am sure Gigabyte Extreme will flex its muscles too in coming weeks. :)

Despite them flying off the shelves, I'm on the other side.

I respect your opinion mate but I* firmly believe the majority in here(and the rest of the scene) are 100% anything but happy with the price as the high end out sell the top end by a simply massive amount due to price/affordability-ask Gibbo.

It's overpriced imo but doesn't mean I wasn't going to pay for it, was going to get it but the eta's are running mid June now, I'll probably be out the country for a wee while.:(

On the other hand it's opening up the option of the 1070 now as I should be back for them going live, so I'll probably save a few quid if it's not that far off on 1080p G-Sync.:)

If i put them on ignore how could i tell if they are behaving :)

It wasn't aimed specifically at you and your duties here, I had the floor-it was my time.:p

:)

*Before any one jumps in, it's just my opinion, if you disagree-just stay  it wasn't a challenge or anything to get upset about.:)

Good info, thanks man :)

Thanks mate, cooler removal is at the top of my decision, not just asking for myself, it's for the whole community.:)
