It's a firmware feature, not extra hardware though. Costs would be negligible to implement an alternate lighting mode.they breath but dont "dance" the music

Going to play devil's advocate here but... kind of an assumption going round that the FTW will clock better than the SC because of the extra power pin. Could the extra power not just be needed to run those bank of RGB lights....?

Think I'd be getting this one if I wanted Nvidia. Shame they don't support Freesync though looks like Polaris is needed.
You say that but it has been known if you are overclocking the 1080 you end up hitting thermal limits with the FE cooler.
