Hi Gibbo, I sent a webnote to CS and they said they are only authorised for changing to G1 orders

I think many of us have looked at the Zotac Amp and thought similar thoughts . It may be a beast but it certainly is reviewing well for out of the box performance . Havnt seen anyone having any great success overclocking it but with the clock speeds it already has why bother . If you have the room for it it does seem a good choice
So it's getting a bit desperate now so I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pay the difference.
The palit is out of stock so can't choose that one
This? for an extra £60

or this

for an extra £76
Way more than I wanted to pay but it doesn't look like the ASUS is going to land anytime soon. The FTW is probably out as I'm way down the ASUS preorder list!
It is a real rub though as a south american named company are listing the Zotac at £621! (be it out of stock)
Hi Gibbo, I sent a webnote to CS and they said they are only authorised for changing to G1 ordersThe only reason I want the Strix is for the cooler design.
All cards overclock to a max of around 2-2.1GHz on air, to go faster you need water and probably hardware modifications to increase power limits.
Pascal though power efficient, once you overclock it they use a lot more.
The Zotac has the best chance of hitting 2.1GHz but best of all is it is pointless in overclocking them as they tend to boost over 2GHz out the box and they have a near 11,000MHz default memory clock which is quicker than other cards on market.
Zotac have the fastest out the box cards on the market in both 1080 and 1070 with the AMP Extreme cards.![]()
what about the G1 gaming? its geting really good reviews supposed to run very cool! you can switch to that at no extra cost, i did it yesterday and mine will be here tomorow![]()
yup, mine clocks at 2075 without any modifications, I pushed it to 2160 on air. Memory runs at 10800. There's no point to overclock it though so I left it as its stock speeds and runs at decent temperature as well.
You got a stunning card, if you put the memory back to the NVIDIA default of 10,000MHz, your card will exceed 2.2GHz which could be a forum record on air.
Zotac sacrificed some core speed by setting such a high memory clock, because they found in gaming a core clock of 2GHz and 10,800MHz memory clock gave the best gaming performance and quite a few more FPS than competitors cards.![]()
Hi there
Today EVGA have shipped:
40x 1080 FTW
10x 1080 SC
40x 1070 FTW
Due with us Monday/Tuesday.![]()
If I wanted to change my Strix OC to a Zotac AMP Extreme is that doable? How long will I be waiting for it to arrive?
Will these new cards run quieter then the stock cooler ones?
ASUS Update!
98pc of Asus Strix arriving tomorrow. This is the un-tested one with no OC!
By un-tested I mean Asus have not made any attempt to overclock these GPU's, so they are not failed OC ones, in an attempt to speed up production, they are simply not testing GPU and getting a load of regular shipped to us to give customers an option to change their Strix OC order too.
So 98pc due tomorrow and a further 100-200 units due in a further 7-10 days times.
If you would like to change your order from the OC to regular Strix just call sales and let them know you want GX-405-AS (Strix) at the same price as you paid for GX-401-AS (Strix OC).
Its not the best news but for those who are buying the card mainly for aesthetics and features can get a card much sooner. Even though these are none OC part, they boost well over the advertised speeds due to the cooler keeping the GPU cool and of course you can still overclock yourself.
Did that 30 Strix OC arrive this week?
I was number 56 last week. With another weeks worth of cancellations, I might have moved up the queue a bit.
Whats the latest word on OC arrivals?
