** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

So a few little tests with the G1 and it looks like it's underperforming

http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9372341

According to the Guru3D test it should be hitting 19k

http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1080-g1-gaming-review,28.html

Any ideas??

Full spec of my PC is in my signature

Compare the graphics scores and you can see it's fine. They are getting higher scores cause they are using a 4.4ghz 5960x which blows your 4770k away in cpu tests like the physics and combined benchmarks.

You're looking at the overall score which includes CPU performance. The Graphics Score is where you need to be looking, and 22883 is fine for the 1080 in that regard :)

So I'm in the same boat as some ppls here, I called CS on Wednesday and was told they only received the 1st batch of EVGA FTW cards (50) and send them off last Friday, and at that point I'm 96th on the list.. I should check back on Friday if they received more.. I called before noon and was told they still haven't received anything and to check this thread for more up-to-date updates.. So I did and in the meantime I'm overwhelmed by some comments that EVGA and ASUS drop the ball, cards are generally hotter, noisier and I would be much better with ZOTAC or other..Obviously the recommended ZOTAC is on preorder as well, but GeForce GTX 1080 PHOENIX Golden Sample is available so I wonder.. should I switch? At least I could have it in hand in a few days instead another 2 weeks (wishful thinking, I know..) I never used Gainward before plus this one comes with only 2 years warranty as oppose to EVGA... I'm torned.. What do you guys think? I don't even know if I could swap one for one yet, would have to ask CS first, so right now it is a purely theoretical question.

The sad thing was that I think a lot of us wanted ZOTAC orginally but they had an ETA of July compared to the Strix 3rd of June. It seemed a no brainer to go for the Strix.

Strix OC is probably August+ because they sold them all too cheap and make a better margin just pumping out the standard Strix instead and waiting for us all to bail on our OC order. Complete **** take. Don't worry though, if you like being bent over you can have their cheaper card for the price you paid for the OC. Nothing says "sorry for not delivering" like asking if you want a lesser product for the same price.

EVGA and Asus have both dropped the ball this time round making cards which are nosier, hotter, poorer overclocking than the competition.

My FTW is very quiet (playing GTAV). Far more quiet than my previous MSI 980ti. It maxes at 74 degrees under full load, 56% fan.
It achieves 2050 GHz (seems to be the common max for the FTW, it maxed at 2050 with a higher unstable overclock, a lower stable one still gets 2050).
When the 1080 was first announced, very excited. Reviews came out and expectations were tempered. Playing GTAV and the performance matches the initial excitement.
MSI 980ti: wavered between 74 to 56 fps. 1080 FTW wavers between 100 to 66 fps, mostly staying in the 90's (soild 100fps during stunt races). (on Acer x34).

Not sure why but I thought it would be quicker than the 295X2

Here's a compare of the 2

I guess in real terms it's the quick single card :)

The Zotac looks like a really impressive card but it is just so big. I wanted to go SLI but no way I can get 2 of them into my system. At 58 mm wide it covers 3 slots so I would have to drop my sound card out and then the clearance for the fans would still be rubbish. It doesn't look like it would fit because of the length as well so even 1 card wouldn't fit, its really a bust whatever.

Not sure what kind of gargantuan system Zotac were thinking we all have to go with dimensions like this.

Throw it in, see how it clocks and if it is a good one, contact the retailer and ask if they will discount due to being a different product from 1 ordered.

I just had a bit of a play with it (strix non-oc). Out of the box its boosting to 1911Mhz. I can run a stable overclock at 2050Mhz but anything above that is unstable. Think I will return it and wait for the FTW...

To be honest that seems to be the spot most clock to, and even if you get one that clocks to 2100 you'd not even notice the performance difference, there would not even be a frame in it.

I would be happy to keep the Strix, but the FTW I pre-ordered from OCers is £50 cheaper for the same performance. It's a shame because I love the fact the strix has two fan headers on board.

Because people who SLI, esp cards which cost £600, are few and far between?

So what you're saying, stick with my original order? ;-) But how much longer...?? :-( Did anyone receive order update from Friday / Saturday? That would mean they did receive another batch..

You make a fair point that I did consider. However, consider that vast majority of us only ever run 1 card and it's actually quite a smart choice for them.

They've made a product that will always perform better than the other brands with smaller coolers for the 95% (legit maths) of users that don't go SLI.

Had a Strix on order from another supplier which was delivered today. The product advertised for sale was the O8G OC version . Product delivered is the 8G non-OC version (I have the screenshot to prove it was an O8G being advertised!)

I also have an FTW on order from OC.....

What shall I do!?!? I'm so tempted just to open it up and throw it inside the PC but the other side of me says to send it back and wait for the FTW :confused::confused:

was that from s##n ? as i had that happen to me so i told them to **** off
