** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

I honestly wouldn't touch an asus strix without seeing some video showing fan acoustics under gaming load. I know mine are annoyingly loud in either single or dual config, possible they've actually sorted it for the 1080.

ASUS doesn't put any R&D into their fans. The STRIX uses basic/cheap fans with no flow or noise quieting elements on the blades. It will be loud which defeats the purpose of a AIB cooler...

Same monies - FTW. EVGA will be quieter, those tripple fan solutions are noisy, won't buy windforce again.

My triple fan cooler on the MSI Lightning 980Ti was the best GPU air cooler I've ever seen. Could keep 1520 MHz core at 62C in near silence.

Tell me about it, have 2 hammering away here :(

Supposedly they've improved the fans to reduce coil whine etc... and from reviewer tests, it's proven to be fairly quiet. So hopefully it'll be better in terms of noise, over the previous generations of strix.

Just wondering if anyone who ordered a FTW 1080 around 1 Jun 2016 10:02:19 knew their place in the queue?

Apparently as I paid with PayPal they cant tell me my place

I ordered mine on the 30th and when I spoke to someone on the Live Chat yesterday I was 134th in line.

That said, it seems some who have preordered have cancelled and jumped ship to the Gigabyte G1 so we could be in a more favourable position.:p

So how about the SC cards Ben? Friday or 13th? Must know at this point..

Just looking at flight schedules now. Depending on reseller you purchased from first wave of the SC we should be right for Monday 13th across our key UK partners. I think customs will prevent us hitting 10th but someone might get lucky.

Ben

I also paid by Paypal, but what's confusing me is if OcUK can't tell us where we are in line, how are they going to send them out in the right order compared to CC/DC payers?

depend on who you asked . first CS ( webnote ) told me the same thing but i called their phoneline 2nd time and he can provide me the queue position number.

Ben please try and get 120+ FTW in the first batch! Then I will get mine on the 17th, the waiting is seeming like forever now as I have been on a 5870 for a month now!

Doubt anything can be changed with the shipments now - At least the first batch

Damn, probably would not get the SC any quicker either due to that probably having a big queue as well. Also the cooler looks wimpy compared to the FTW so I think I will wait, getting really boring now, although I have got a lot better at rocket league at least... Got up to shooting star rank! As that is the only game I can actually play.
