You're happy with this? you're happy with a card that is about equivalent to an RX 6600 which is $100 cheaper? You think that is good competition? And i presume you would be happy for Intel to continue in that overcharging vain?
How does that benefit us? How does Intel overcharging for their GPU's bring prices down?
It seems to perform better than a 6600xt, on average, from the reviews I was reading, not a base 6600, and is faster than the 6650xt in RT performance. I can see in the US there are a couple of 6650xt's on offer now under $300, so the value proposition is worse than those. For a gamer, yes you'd want to buy one of those AMD cards. Someone interested in ML might find the intel offers a better experience for the money though, because of the 16GB on it.
The point is they've entered the market with a roughly competent card that's broadly in line with current price/performance expectations. This is not earth shattering, but another company has entered the market and the card isn't just dog-slow or technologically irrelevant, which means there are now three players. This benefits us by introducing more competition, and it should add pressure to bring down prices even if it hasn't immediately 'nuked' the current market. I won't be considering actually buying one until their next generation comes out, as the current price/performance is not that compelling and they're late to the party with the 4 series/7 series due out any day now. But I will be hoping they carry on and deliver 'Battlemage' in a timely manner and more aggressively priced, because they've shown they are at least in the competition here, even though they aren't necessarily winning.
I'm not sure why this annoys you so much?
Personally, after the nvidia announcement, I'm in the market for a radeon 7xxx of some sort, pending launch announcement in a few weeks.
