OcUK Mini Rolling Road Day 14.5 @ PowerStation (Tewksbury) - Saturday November 24th 2012

The 911s graph looks a lot less smooth than I was expecting?

The torque seems to wobble up and own and create what looks like a rather noticeable flat spot around 5000rpm?

Does it feel like that when driving or was the dyno struggling with the car or something?

All 911's do it, even Porsches official power graphs show it. A Porsche know it all told me they do it on purpose for something to do with emmissions.

On the road I can't feel any loss or dip in power but you do feel what feels like extra surge or call it VTEC at 5500rpm. :)

Supposedly a customer mapper can map it out but only the very best mappers can do it.

Though this time round it faired worse than normal, but I think I know why, so am not worried and am looking at a way of fitting the larger throttlebody whilst retaining my current airbox whilst using all Porsche OE parts to stay within warranty. :)

Here is the official powergraph from Porsche, grey line being X51 power and black line is stock power:-

Howdy - thought I'd better register and say Hi as I'm the chap with the B5 RS4 that snuck on at the end :)

ScoobyDoo69 - Impreza STi -................391hp & 341ft/lbs
Mud - Monaro CV8 -.............................376hp & 397ft/lbs
Gibbo - Porsche Carrera S -...................358hp & 301ft/lbs

thesupermario69 - Mini Cooper S -.........248hp & 200ft/lbs
rjkoneill - Civic Type R -........................222hp & 158ft/lbs
The Gidfather - Mini Cooper S Works -....217hp & 211ft/lbs

Mark - Audi Quattro -...........................121hp & 118ft/lbs (not sure if forum member)
Dayzed&Confused - Perodua -.................49hp & 43ft/lbs

Little down on power and a good chunk of torque missing since last time on there in June (537bhp & 515lb/ft) but was running less boost on Saturday which accounts for the drop in torque (boost = torque).

I've used the PS dyno for years now, back when it was in Charlton Kings too. There are plenty of people who are happy to slate their dyno, and the "drag" figure is usually the one that does it but over the years I've seen time and time again stock cars making stock power so have absolute confidence in the figures it provides for Engine Power (corrected).

My RS4 has been quite modified over the past couple of years and I've had it on their dyno over 10 times and each time the figure has been used to gauge how a modification has benefited the car and/or to get direct before and after figures for specific mod - to me that's the only true way to use a dyno, though these dyno days are always good fun and at least gives all the cars running on the same day in the same conditions a perfect comparison of performance.

Over on the Audi forums I get slated for the dyno graphs I post up and many people think there's no way an RS4 on stock K04 turbos can produce that much power - but they are generally just blinded by an overriding loyalty to one particular Audi tuner and their dyno and over inflated figures, then get disappointed when they came to a PS day I organised and their xxxbhp cars make far less.

Sorry, that turned into a dyno rant! I just love the PS dyno and always end up getting involved in defending it from time to time!

I'll post up about my car separately but I have a whole website dedicated to it here for those interested: http://www.mdracing.co.uk/

Right, off to go get stuck into the Motors section of the forum - only thought this place was about computers... doh!

Haha, Hi Jon. :D Welcome to OcUK. :D

Word up on the FiestaST with the rattle, not good news really.. I'll chip in after he's been on board to update. As I'd rather it come from him first. :-/

not good at all, im sure Killer_UK will update us in a bit. it doesnt sound brilliant, but it is definately a result of mountune touching his engine imho

Very much appreciated, I have made a copy of what you've written, could you remove the post please Gibbo or Fuzz, as I will wait until I have their response, hopefully it will be positive one. I guess this is the best approach to take?

Would appreciate if you could edit out my quote Jonmurgie, I don't want to start a witch hunt until I know what their stance is. Thanks :)

I'm going to guess it's the 3 letter "tuner" ending in c, they do seem to have a lot of fan boys, there was one thread on audisrs that showed them up ...

Nice RS4 btw :D
