I've just traveled down to the shop from chester to pick up an 8800gt to use as a fill on card until I decide what to buy.
Get there and both 8800's in stock are dual slot cards and not single slot as shown in the 8800 section.
Not happy really, surely ocuk you can add details of slot size, especially as there is only 2 available.
Got an 8400 to use for now

There has been a few other posts about this, when buying OcUK Value graphics cards, the product usually differs from the image they are displaying. Some use rear exhaust system, some don't. Some dual slot, some aren't, it's abit of a grey area.

It not beyond the ability of humans to alter one line on the web description to reflect current stock is it? i mean i guess the web site is done in house so it should take 5 minutes to do it.

Its most likely a case of either not thinking or just being lazy.

+1 , i had the same complaint of those two tablets up, bad description , but not have the slot size is a burden on the customer, maybe a directed suggestion section for this kind of query , like a goofs section. Would help us and the lads at ocuk.

They have a point

They have got a point I guess, but had the op done a bit more research he could have got what he wanted for cheaper and with a full 2 year warranty.

Having said that I'm surprised that the guys at OcUK didn't recommend the XFX 9800GT as this would have suited the op down to the ground I'm sure

Moaner's gonna moan.

Bit of a soft arse response,
I take it your the type of guy who puts up with this sort of stuff hey Memphis ?
In my eyes it's not really acceptable, especially to drive 45 miles to collect only to find it's not as advertised, I'm sure you would moan if I sold you a dual slot card stating it was a single slot? Or would you not bother as it's classed as moaning

I never trust stock numbers on websites.
If you're going somewhere, ring up first to check.

It wasn't about the numbers, even if they sold out I was going to get something, it's just a 8800 single slot would have been ideal

Have to admit I've had the same problem with graphics card bought a sapphire 4850 when they came out, then won one in an OcUK competition and it was shown as a single slot like the one I'd previously bought, so I thought great and that I'd have two of kind, but when it turned it was a 2nd revision which is 2 slots, which I didn't mind as I didn't have to change the cooler. But when I ordered one for a friend couple months on he recieved a 1st revision the same as my original one, fathom that?
All sapphires and all recieved from OcUK

I had this issue with a case it specified the side window took 2 fans in the description but when i got it there was no fitting for it, when i complained about it a suggestion was to cut holes in it to make it take fans, not really a good answer.

In the end i gave up as the few emails i sent were totally ignored which was disappointing.

I think the problem is without opening the box ocuk don't really know what rev of card is in the box. I am only saying this because in other threads i have seen posts saying this.

I think it was in a thread about a 5870 and the guy wanted a rev 1 card because he liked the stock ati cooler but recieved a card with a custom cooler. If this is the case ocuk have to put a picture up which they do with there disclaimer so nothing really they can do to change this.

If it was an OcUK product (i.e. not Asus/gigabyte branded but OcUK branded on the web description), they can sell whatever they like, they have said in the past there is no guarantee which card you get. I.e. It may say OcUK, but you may get a Sparkle card or a Palit for example.

If it said specifically 1 slot on it, I'd be a little peeved as well though. However, if travelling all that way especially for one product, I would have rung to confirm first.

I really dont know how people are defending ocuk at being lazy and not knowing the specifications of the item they sell!

I have worked in this kind of business and its not rocket science to check one card from a batch and alter the web description, its takes one person a few hours to keep an eye on new batches of stuff and alter the web site. Its not like there are HUNDREDS of new lines each week or anything. If it takes one person an hour each day to do then then big whoop... its not like you need an army of people on the case 24/7.

Its also not as if you have to do it for all product lines, only certain ones where size of coolers/fan moutings are an issue such as cases and graphics cards.

I suspect the lost time /productivity wasted in dealing with the complaints and returns due to wrong descriptions would easily cost the company more than one person's time for upto 2 hours a day to keep on top of it.

Not doing it is just a prime example of laziness and not really caring about the issue. Then again id wager 99% of other places do exactly the same.

If in doubt phone first, but i suspect even then the guy on the phone wont be allowed down into the warehouse to check anyway.
