OcUK Needs Your Help! Who wants to have a play with some NEW Phobya Fans?

Just recieved mine today. Phobya G-Silent 18 700rpm Red LED 180mm Fan ( 180x180x32mm )

Looking at the description on ocuk and a few other reviews all have this

"The fan is shipped with cables for voltage reduction. These cables reduce the voltage to 7V or 5V as desired. All cables are sleeved black which supports the elegant and sleek appearance of the fan."

Mine has not came with any of these wires were these meant to have been included? Just incase before I do a little review will need to miss this part out. Also as its on your website description for the fan someone should maybe do a quick check to make sure the rest of them have them before you start shipping them out on orders.

Received mine, just rounded up 9 other types of fans for me to compare them to :D

They came with mine, they look just like cable extenders but do infact have resisitors in them.

There was a spare left in the office after I had them out to make sure they all at least work. It should come with one lol :D

Pros +

- They look quite nice.

- Braided Cable.

- Slightly better airflow than my Akasa Apache Blacks. Took about 2 degrees off my 6970 when placed below. Didn't bother trying them on my CPU as these have 500 less rpm. ;)

Cons -

- Aren't really any more silent than my "non-silent" fans.

I will try place them in different positions when i have time. Probably try rear exhaust next.

Well its certainly waterproof...

The Phobya Nano-G 12 silent waterproof 1500rpm multioption includes 5 & 7v adaptors and four case screws. The fan itself is powered by a 3 pin case fan header, no 4 pin molex. All cabling is braided and of good length, measuring 50cm. The fan looks sleek with it's gloss black frame and semi-transparent red fins, matching if not slightly exceeding the quality of other similarly priced fans. A draw back of the gloss black frame is that even small amounts of dust becomes highly visible after only short amount use.

Compared with the stock 120mm Antec 300 Tricool fans the Phobyas are certainly quieter. This was with the Antec 300 fans set to their top speed setting. The airflow also seems to be fractionally greater with the Phobya Nano-G 12s. On the downside to reduce fan speed the Nano-G 12s 5/7v adaptors are needed, against the Antec Tricool fan which comes with a three setting micro switch for ease of use. Although this point is irrelivant if a case mounted fan speed controller is being used.

Temperature wise the Phobya Nano-Gs reduced over all case temperature by around 2c, dropping from 35 to 33c. This was with the following system running at stock speeds with the Nano-G 12s in a push pull configuration:

Intel i7 990x - Thermalright Ultra-120A Extreme w/ Yate Loon
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 12800
MSI GTX460 Cyclone
Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB x2
Creative X-FI Xtreme Music
Corsair 520w modular PSU
Sony 22x DVD±RW SATA
Antec 300 Three Hundred (Top fan disabled)

The 120mm Yate Loon on the CPU heatsink was then replaced with a Phobya Nano-G 12. Followed by 12 instances of sp2004 being run to bring the 990x up to 100% load. Temperature readings were taken at idle and then after 10 minutes of full load.

Idle: 31
Load:59

As a comparison the Yate Loon temperatures were as follows:

Idle: 33
Load: 62

As shown the Nano-G 12 has a reduction of 2-3c over the Yate Loon. However the Yate Loon is by far the quieter fan, although runs 150rpm slower than the Nano-G 12.

The current price point of the Phobya Nano-G 12 silent waterproof 1500rpm multioption brings it inline with such fans as the Sharkoon Silent Eagle, Akasa Apache, Scythe Kaze Jyuni. Meaning it has stiff competition from already well known fans. On the plus side the waterproof feature does count in the Nano-G 12s favour by allowing quick and easy cleaning.

And if a drink is spilled into the PC at least the fans will survive...

2x Phobya Nano-G 12 PWM 1500rpm RED LED (g5)

Received today, many thanks.

Currently running a half hour session of prime with my vipers in push/pull on a venomous x

I'll then switch over to the phobya's and do the same and I'll post up a quick review in the oc'ing and cooling section

That case is horrible to start with and the fans make it look even worse. If you sort your cable management out it may help drop the temp even more.

and is that a hair dyer or a reference 6970 lmao!.. surely it doesnt help with noticing how loud or quiet the fans are.

Firstly I didn't realize this was a beauty competition. Secondly my cable management is fine as 90% of the cables are nicely tucked behind the case. I have plenty of cooling including 1x 200mm fan on top 1x 120mm rear 2x 120mm front, 2x 120mm bottom and 2x 120mm on the side panel. And thirdly I guess you've never heard of a fan controller. I can easily hear the difference.

I know in the pictures it seems like the cables are all over the place but they're really not. They are all behind the case.

Also I don't see how it's a horrible case. What makes it horrible? It has plenty of cooling options and looks good. I couldn't give a **** what it looks like on the inside as long as it's cooling is good.

Edit* Oh wait you're the guy who spent 3 grand on a nearly out of date rig and got mad because I told you that you wasted your money. Guess you're still mad. And yes that is a reference 6970 as some of us actually buy hardware when they first get released and not a year later.

Personally I think NinetOne case looks awesome and certainly nothing wrong with his cable management.

There's far to much Bitching going on in this forum recently. ZZZzzzz makes me want to go elsewhere atm.

was there actually any real need for this post, has it got any reference to this thread?

personally i think a mod should be showing you the door for this.

any chance of telling me what he bought? i wouldnt mind laughing in this guys face, because his attitude towards your PC stinks

hi all, so heres the deal i got chosen to test 2 Phobya G-Silent 12 1500rpm RED LED fans and here i am testing them :)

lets start on the aesthetic features of these fans:

firstly the box. the box is very well presented in my opinion and i especially like how the fan is shown, not to keen on the phobya logo though
imag0074m.jpg

now that the fans out of the box we can see it in full.
imag0075df.jpg

it has a high quality look and feel to it not your everyday tackey plastic fan,
the white cable braiding was also a nice surprise too as i have a fractal case and am getting white cables :)

now how it looks inside of the case:
first off lets see how dull and boring the coolit eco stock fan looks
imag0073i.jpg

in my opinion not very nice at all.
now lets compare it to the phobya fan
imag0077t.jpg

thats much better, you might not be able to see it on camera but the red led's have a nice almost warming glow to them and are not too in your face.

so first i tested these fans against the stock cooler of the cool it eco.
the first test was noise, heres a video of the noise that the cool it eco fan in a pull configuration on the rad makes along with the rest of the fans in the case.
as you can hear the cool it eco fan is the nosiest of the lot and i hate it!
now for 1 of the phobya fans
That is a lot quieter and so much more acoustically pleasing!!
now for 2 phobya fans in a push pull config
a little bit more noisy but still a lot more quieter than that stupid coolit fan :D

now for the temperature testing which may be slightly disappointing :(

now i had done videos of intel burn test running with temp sensors but they manged to corrupt them selfs  so you will just have to take my word for it.

first things first my specs:
i5 2400
msi-z68a-gd80-g3
asus direct cu ii top 560ti
8gb corsair vengeance
ocz vertex 2 60gb +1tb samsung

also the other fans in my case are:
2x 140mm fratcal fans
1x 120mm fractal fan

so i ran intel burn test on standard for 5 loops.
the temps were:
on the standard coolit eco fan - highest recorded temp was 53C
on 1 phobya fan - highest recored temp was 55C
on 2 phobya fans in push pull - highest recorded temp was 52C

so as you can see the coolit eco fan vs the phobya fan 1v1 the cool it fan offers better cooling capabilities, this is expected due to the cooling fan having a higher rpm however this is at the price of an awful noise!

here are the pros and cons of both fans

coolit fan
pros:
Good cooling capabilities

cons:
ugly
noisey
no cable braiding

phobya fan's
pros:
quiet
good looking
cable braiding
nice led's

con's:
not as good cooling capabilities.

over all i find the phobya fans to be much more aestheticly and acoustically pleasing and as a result of that i have another on preorder and i have also order some more phobya products :)

Now i know this may not be the best review about and it has a few things missing but this is my attempt and its my first review so enjoy and thanks for reading :)

Very good review powelly2010, love that you included the video as the noise levels were quite evident, even two Phobya's were very quiet. It is a shame about the temps because you would think a couple 120mm 1,500rpm fans in p/p with a single fan cooling capacity of 57cfm would be able to hit at least 50c on their default settings. At least you don't have to endure that noise anymore on your old Coolit, that's got to be worth keeping them on - whether for cooling your CPU or buying more for case fans.

What are you talking about... the cable management is fine. You should think about your attitude towards other people before posting, this sort of comment should warrant a ban!
