OcUK Poker Thread.

Yep, very unimpressed. Asked them at 2pm yesterday when it'd be back up and they said tonight hopefully, midday tomorrow (today, obviously) at the absolute latest. Oh dear.

BB/100 is the average profit/loss you make for every 100 hands measured in big bets, FLH = fixed limit holdem, and maximum of 6 people per table

14 hours or so... started to make massive mistakes to the end, didnt know wtf i was doing anymore

Can some one recommend some good software to record online playing for analysis. I have googled and found a few that you have to pay for but don't know if there are any free ones etc

You can get 60 day trials of Pokertrack and (15 days) Holdem Manager iirc. Also with Pokertracker you can buy the microstakes version for a very reasonable $44.99 and HEM for $54.99.

I use Pokertracker and it's very good.

Thanks for those I’ll have a look into them.

Also, as a newbie to online poker what do you find the best no limit holdem games to play? I tend to play just ring games and do ok and enter the odd $1 tournament (usually Saturday nights) and have done ok in those too (finishing in the money) but they take hours and hours. I think the last one was over 4000 people. Are there any tournaments that tend to be quicker? Can some one explain the benefits of multi table and sit n gos. I just want to know my options for when I want a quick game.

Just playing the ring games gets fairly boring since there is no end to it and the $1 tournaments take ages so I couldn’t play one on a work night.

Hey, i've played a fair bit of poker before with friends and looking to get back into it. Without trawling through the thread whats the best site for play money games?

MTT's vs SNG's there is a difference in strategy, the more people in a tournament, the more difficult it is to finish , you need to have a lot of buyins to play those really big tournaments because it is quite likely you will not even cash for 20 of them in a row.

If you play 6 or 9 or 27 person SNG's, its easier to consistently finish and profit as there would be less variance and luck involved because you might only be all in once or twice, or mabye never.

6 Max ring games are the best!

I have just got poker tracker, is there anyway for me to delete all the current information it has regarding my play? I want to start from scratch with it? I can't seem to find anything in the help about deleting history for a player and starting again etc.

Reason being I am a lot better player than I was when I started and don't want all my rookie mistakes etc to get in the way of looking at my current stats and making things less clear.

MTT's also allow rebuys in the opening stages, whereas sit and go's don't. Tournaments with rebuys have different strategies compared to those that don't as people try to accumulate quickly, knowing they can take risks and not be eliminated.

If its anything like HEM, you could go tp pgadmin and delete your current DB, and create a new one. I've done that a few times, but it's not really necessary, and you can see your stats according to date.

Unless you have a fair bit of experience, i'd definitely avoid rebuy torunaments initially.

I started playing online a few weeks ago. 2nd day of playing I came 3rd in one of those pokerstars 1k freerolls, no idea how I managed it, just everything seemed to go my way for 7 hours lol. Being a noob i managed to lose the $138 winnings in 2 days haha. I've been pretty awful since, bad beats and occasionally finishing in the low money, riverstars etc. Still I'm in the 150k final on sunday guess thats something.

Anyhoo, reckon this was a good fold?

early on in a freeroll so hell he could have anything, but those queens scared me. And as luck would have it 5 hands later I got a full house again, doubled up.
