Hi there

We all know what a great card 290X is and offers GTX 970 real good competition and with most UK retailers around £269-£319 they sell ok but nowhere near GTX 970/980.

The OcUK MSI 290X LE deal we did at £249.95 is due to run out.

The last few weeks I've being working hard on getting the 290X down to a new price point and I'm hopeful tomorrow I shall accomplish this.

So how does £229.99 Inc VAT and delivered for a 290X with 3yr warranty sound? ;)

This will be no doubt the last chance to get a 290X performing card at such a price due to stocks being sold at a loss to clear them. If rebranding happens and 290X becomes say 380X you can bet they will be far closer to £300 than £200 ;)

But I thought AMD were DOOMED..? :)

What 290x though? Stock jet turbine fan or something that doesn't make the pc case hover out of the room?

If I'm correct, stock 290X have 2 year warranty (just like ones with Sapphire custom coolers) and most deals were on the MSI TwinFrozr version.

I'm willing to bet good money that the model in question is Asus DirectCU II, i.e. not a very good one as far as the non-reference models go (it is fairly silent though).

We are having a deal on this card in my neck of the woods for the equivalent of £222 incl. shipping, courtesy of a local etailer almost certainly without any special connections, serving tiny local market.

So close to my £200 limit for upgrading cards, from GTX 480 to R290x hmm £30 more?

Is it worth it as GTA V is killing my card? Lol I know it is, just got to hide the £200 dent from the other half.

I have a cunning plan! ;)

Her: Night out £40 hair £100 for shoes £70 spends, paid

Car: Breaks and discs £210, paid

House: £280 Gutters replaced, pending

Me: Graphics card £230

I think I got some ammunition folks ! ;)
