its basically to do with hitboxes and server reg deadsquirrel. With 100 tick its the most accurate and basically what you see in front of you, is almost 100% accurate so when you shoot their elbow, u'll hit their elbow. As you move further down the scale 66 tickrate is pretty accurate, but a shot you think is hitting on your screen may miss the hitboxes just slightly, then down to 33 it could be out a decent bit, couple of mm.

As for server naming, thats not important, just want to get a decent community going on a server. I can push for 100 tickrate but realistically i want to see a lot of support for it. I'll get the usual maps on as well as any decent custom ones you can suggest.

I wont be going higher than 24 and would probably prefer to keep it lower than that.
 
Get your netgraph up, net_graph 3 i think in console, the last two numbers of the in and out should be what the tickrate is, well around it.
 
I'd definitely play on it.

Make 20/24 slot server, 100 tick would be nice but 66 tick is fine for me.

Popular map rotation with vote map 5 mins before end.

Round time at 2/2.30 mins, and 20/30 mins map time.

I'd even help admin it if need be, I hate badly admined servers.
 
I can't bear dust2..the number of 24/7 dust2 and office servers is depressing. Proper map cycle is needed, preferably with some of the real classics like cs_mansion.
 
ok, i promise this is the last question about tick rates! I take it the higher the tick rate the more strain it puts on the server? therfore more expesive?

Answer that and your prize will be that i dont post in this thread again! :D
 
Haha i dont mind at all mate. Yes the higher tickrate puts a greater strain on server resources much like anything that increases performance or whatever such as bots or more maps and mods. Though obviously the tickrate puts a greater strain on resources then more maps and mods.
 
Please just leave it simple, no fancy maps,mods or sounds and leave the awp on. It's rare these days to find a server which hasn't been ruined that way. Also make sure your admins have atleast played the game before. :)
 
i wouldnt use it if it was just the same as every other server to be fair :/ needs a different map cycle to , dust , office , dust 2 , italy
 
cs_mansion as in the map formerly known as cs_estate?
Certainly only a classic in the sense that it is old. It is a bad bad map, though strangely compelling to play!


I still say stick a fairly standard map rotation (with a decent list.... not too much rubbish dust2) including a few older maps that have been made for source then have lots of the classics and the aims/fy etc. on the server to be voted for and/or changed by mods.

Yeah I'd play on the server, having a decent server to play on that doesnt have rounds where everyone spawns as trees or barrels would be good.

No mansion was always called mansion..estate came later and is a different map.
They are practically identical, also, i always though estate came first (but was called countryestate or something like that. Like siege wsa called canyonsiege.

Thanks i have changed it. I am usually very careful with it on here. I completely missed that one.
 
Nah estate was awful, I remember hating it:p ; mansion was a thing of beauty :p Mansion definitely came first, it's one of the oldest maps (beta 2 at least).
