For those who have never been to a Powerstation rolling road day, it goes something like below:

Dirks just told me you booked this for the 16th...
That's the day I fly out to Egypt. Did I not say in the other thread?

Not an issue for me obviously :D as I won't be there but if you did want me to run it instead of Rich.... Choose another date :D
I'm way from the 16th for 9 days ( I am also planning [but not booked] to be away for at least the week before as it it's my birthday on the 7th.)

Its OK, I am sure Rich can manage, but as me and Dirk said, you take far too many holidays. :p

Have a great time! :)

ok so if its still ok, im bringing possibly 5 extra cars with me? not sure if they will all run or just spectate but 3 have said they will run. my leon is in for a remap on the 13th so ill just bring that for comparison as the le car isnt back together yet. looking forward to it

It is fine, that will give us about 30 runners confirmed, expect 5 or so to drop out on the day, so 25 runners, shall be a good turn out for sure.

Remember to have your thermals on, its probably gonna be cold, but good for results until Powerstation Dyno's correction figure. ;)

It's going to be a cold one!

Where's the running order, Gibbo? :D

Shall sort closer to the time.

If I've missed anyone off the list or not removed anyone, please say now, otherwise when you don't turn up on the day, we will hunt you down, we will find you and we will kill you.

OK maybe not kill you, we shall just ban you from motors for being an epic drop out. ;)

ive been there before, not in this car though, the leon was on a dyno today. i know every operator says theres are right and all others over/under read, just wondering what the thoughts on powerstation were?

Wheel figures a load of garbish, but wheel power has never interested me, I want to know what my engine is doing.

Flywheel figures tend to be very accurate, the mahaa dyno has a reputation for being one of the most accurate dynos for measuring engine power with the engine still in the car and it's wheels still on. :)

My Jag made slightly under stock power, about 10BHP under but the 100k+ miles it probably lost a few horses or just Ford engines not making claims.

Porsche ran about 358BHP when stock, should be 355 stock and now makes 375ish on their dyno with mods.

So pretty accurate generally and BMWs never make their claimed figure supposedly a trait BMW and Audi are known for as they never make their claimed figures.

Have we ever had an E46 M3 run on one of our dyno days at Powerstation, be good to see the graph? :)

Thanks JP

Shhhhh - you never know!

I think so.. don't think any have ever made their quoted power though?

I am not sure if official power figure is 338BHP or 343BHP, either way the BMW forums suggest they do not make claimed power and are typically in the 320-330 region.

The CSL was the only ones which made claimed power or more varying between 355-370 horsepower, but at the same time were very hard to extract more from.

Supposedly the regular M3 responds well to mods and Saturday we shall see as I remapped mine today. :D

I think they are misquoted at 343bhp, when they were actually 343ps, hence 338bhp in real money. Even so, I think many struggle to make this and make more like 320-330 as you say, where as CSL hit the numbers.

What I have heard though and it could just being a one off particular good one, but rumour and I repeat rumour is the 05/55 onwards models shared the CSL headers and these made the claimed power figures.

However when asking about how the CSL / Regular headers differ it just seems to be they use thinner metal and weigh less, they don't seem to have any design/flow changes and look identical in images. Hence maybe just a rumour and BMW did something else to ensure newer cars hit claimed power or its just a rumour again and none of them actually hit claimed figures.

Shall see on Saturday, as I shall run with the map on and the map off, the car has the best chance to make power, all new filters, oil, inspection 2 done, decent flowing exhaust, lets see. :)

Hi there

Was a great day out, shame the roads were very slippery/greasy but turn out was great, that Greddy exhaust for the EVO X is a poor fit, we removed the rear towing eye to prevent it hitting. The noise, flames and good 50BHP boost well worth it though.

The M3 remap not only makes a noticeable difference to how the car drives and accelerates plus the rev matching but was backed up by a proven 30BHP, over the moon at 367BHP, above CSL power and hopefully lighter now too, it made 336BHP stock, so true they don't make their stock figures, though mine was close. :)

Results:-
Gibbo - E46 M3 with Milltek 100 cel cats and exhaust - Stock map 336/278 & remap 367/289 :D
Pomroy - EVO X FQ-360 - stock exhaust with broken cat - 322/330 (6200rpm) & Greddy exhaust with de-cat 394/366 @ 6800rpm (380BHP @ 6200rpm)
Bicepo - Celica GT4 - 308/259
Freefaller - Nissan 350Z - 293/248
Will - MX5 - 162/147
Nursie - MX5 - 113/80
Howard - Mondeo ST220 - 236/197
IanH - Mondeo Diesel - 178/352
Arcaded - MR2 Turbo - 225/204
Adeyspec - Leon - 282/301
JakeyCRX - DC2 Integra - 223/141
Tutes mate - fabia VRS - 143/228
Peter - Civic Type R - 208/141
Alllec - Toyota Sooarer - 274/285
Scoobydoo69 - Subaru STI not quite 400BHP - 390/346
MilanoChris - EVO 9 - 385/350
Paul - Renault 5 GT - 131/135
Ash - Clio 172 - 186/154
Jenny - Honda S2000 - 242/144
Carl - Merc E300 - 298/291
Michael - Volvo V90 T5 - 259/245
Dan - BMW E36 M3 - 314/260
James - BMW E36 M3 - 314/261
Matt - E30 325i - 161/153

An excellent turn out, great to see so many regulars and new faces, only let down was the the very slippery roads.

Had fun with Kosta on way back, his Impreza might not be quite 400BHP yet, but it's bloody quick. :D
