OcUK Rolling Road Day 16 @ PowerStation (Tewksbury) - Saturday November 16th 2013

thanks for sorting this out gibbo. was a good a good day out, all the lads enjoyed it, thanks for letting them run. would be good to see some pics and videos if anyone got them? happy with how my car ran, not far off what it was a few days ago though about 15degrees colder, so i think that would have helped.

Cheers Gibbo for another good day. Sorry for bailing early, but spare time is precious at the moment and I have a lot of stuff to get on with. I tools some photos, will get them uploaded when I get home.

Happy with the 385bhp, think it's what I said I'd get earlier in this thread.

Just got back, it was a bit nippy out today (and at times colder inside the main garage than outside) but it was a great day despite feeling hungover for most of it.

Cheers to gibbo for organising it again and it was great to meet up with people again.

Some lovely cars there today, forum and non-forum ones, will get my pics up later on this evening (after F1 quali).

Another well organised meet Gibbo, I especially liked the new party games you arranged for people - "The Great Gibbo Torch Hunt", the "Evo X Exhaust Jigsaw Puzzle" and my personal favourite, your "Shouting Random Directions down the Phone Game" - aka Gibbo's Mystery Tour :D

I had to leave much earlier than I'd wanted to (work phoned) but it was nice to have a chat and get on the rollers to confirm that my Turbo wasn't holding boost like it should :(

My pics, these are pretty much straight off the camera with the exposure bumped up a little.

Hi there

Was a great day out, shame the roads were very slippery/greasy but turn out was great, that Greddy exhaust for the EVO X is a poor fit, we removed the rear towing eye to prevent it hitting. The noise, flames and good 50BHP boost well worth it though.

The M3 remap not only makes a noticeable difference to how the car drives and accelerates plus the rev matching but was backed up by a proven 30BHP, over the moon at 367BHP, above CSL power and hopefully lighter now too, it made 336BHP stock, so true they don't make their stock figures, though mine was close. :)

Results:-
Gibbo - E46 M3 with Milltek 100 cel cats and exhaust - Stock map 336/278 & remap 367/289 :D
Pomroy - EVO X FQ-360 - stock exhaust with broken cat - 322/330 (6200rpm) & Greddy exhaust with de-cat 394/366 @ 6800rpm (380BHP @ 6200rpm)
Bicepo - Celica GT4 - 308/259
Freefaller - Nissan 350Z - 293/248
Will - MX5 - 162/147
Nursie - MX5 - 113/80
Howard - Mondeo ST220 - 236/197
IanH - Mondeo Diesel - 178/352
Arcaded - MR2 Turbo - 225/204
Adeyspec - Leon - 282/301
JakeyCRX - DC2 Integra - 223/141
Tutes mate - fabia VRS - 143/228
Peter - Civic Type R - 208/141
Alllec - Toyota Sooarer - 274/285
Scoobydoo69 - Subaru STI not quite 400BHP - 390/346
MilanoChris - EVO 9 - 385/350
Paul - Renault 5 GT - 131/135
Ash - Clio 172 - 186/154
Jenny - Honda S2000 - 242/144
Carl - Merc E300 - 298/291
Michael - Volvo V90 T5 - 259/245
Dan - BMW E36 M3 - 314/260
James - BMW E36 M3 - 314/261
Matt - E30 325i - 161/153

An excellent turn out, great to see so many regulars and new faces, only let down was the the very slippery roads.

Had fun with Kosta on way back, his Impreza might not be quite 400BHP yet, but it's bloody quick. :D

Gibbo, shame I couldn't join in with the fun, but as I said I really wasn't feeling it today and with less than 2mm on my AD08's, the car feels pretty poor on the roads. :) I will post up my overlay of pre and post 2.75" decat and remap.

Here's the overlay. Now, I had my doubts about how accurate the Powerstation rollers are, my car made 350bhp I think the last time it was there. When I had it mapped, Anthony said it's between 380 and 385 at the fly. It made 385 bang on today (though the torque seems a little low) so I think it's pretty accurate to be fair, plus some other cars made nigh on book figures.

Anyway, the overlay looks good, nice chunk of usable power across the range so the map has definitely made it quicker in gear as well as on paper. :)

Excuse the scruffy paper, it was on my sofa and my dog went mental and ended up running across it. :)

Hi there

Here are my two graphs, one with remap, then the run without the remap with overlay against the remap results, take a look:-

CSL beating power with the remap, and oh my does it feel like it, the car absolutely flies. When I took the map off, to do a re-run on the stock map, I took a few people out on the stock map to give the car plenty of time to adapt before going back on the dyno, as the remap had a good 200 mile run before going on the dyno to get the most out of.

So I did a few runs out and passenger rides and on the stock map I really missed the lost urgency sub 3000rpm and the absolute insane pull beyond 6000rpm, the remap is extremely noticable and you can see from the over-lay how much more power/torque the remap is making, particular once past 6000rpm, a whole 30BHP. NA cars don't normally benefit much from remaps, especially when it comes to peak power but the S54 engine in the E46 M3 clearly does, or the boys at Evolve really know their stuff and to see such improvements from a remap done via email is superb.

So to those who I took out, sorry the car was not with the remap, I apologise now for not giving you the full brutal experience. :D

I am absolutely over the moon with the car. :)

Things to do now:-
CSL Boot
Lightweight Braille battery
Maybe fit stock rear carpet from E46 to improve interior look and reduce rasp/noise inside, probably about 3-5kg back in, though the battery and boot is a good 30kg off.
Corner weighting
Rear beam/cage for harnesses.
Drive it like I stole it. :D
Oh and hope that Rich at PowerStation does not give me a deal I can't refuse on the package to get it to 430BHP NA.

P.S. The sudden dip around 3000rpm, is not the map due to how the car comes on cam and really pulls 3000-3500rpm was causing some wheel spin on both stock / remap runs, hence the dip in power / torque as its from getting out the thottle and blending it back in again. But 4000rpm upwards is absolutely spot on and you can see very impressive increases of 30BHP beyond 6000rpm right upto 8000rpm. :)

Thanks for organising today Gibbo! :) Great to see and chat with everyone!

Great to chat to you Kostas and Mario and your dad :)

And you sir! Your Greek isn't too bad! :D

Scoobydoo69 - Subaru STI not quite 400BHP - 390/346

Had fun with Kosta on way back, his Impreza might not be quite 400BHP yet, but it's bloody quick. :D

AWD losses and heavy weight it still punches well ;)

I was quite gutted with my results tbh, as I'm sure my face showed lol :D

I made less power and less torque than before my tweaks - and I couldn't find anything obvious as to what could be wrong. Did a second pull and logged it, couldn't see any ignition timing being pulled, all seemed well! But I'm down on power and the graphs don't match near the differences I saw when I had my map tweak last week - so something is amiss somewhere.

I had the car mapped on RCM's dyno last year time and it made 383bhp and then went to make 393bhp at Powerstation.

This time last week I had it mapped again at RCM and it made 406bhp so 20 more peak bhp, but most importantly nearly 50bhp extra up top. Graph below:

kosta-power-1024x455.jpg

Today it made 390 and 340 torque.. down on the 393bhp and 360lb/ft it made last time at Powerstation and down on my figures from last week. Something not quite right - so the investigation will start soon!
