Just noticed he’s showing the 3100 in the thumbnail but in the video he compares the 3300x to the 7700k.

7700K like performance for entry level CPUs...

New Intel i3 CPUs 4c/8t...

Intel would probably still be pushing quad cores to mainstream desktop and gimped dual cores without hyperthreading to low end. Competition is good for everyone ('cept Intel)

Just pre ordered the 3300x and also a corsair Force 510 480 m.2 drive. Just need the x570 tomahawk to make an appearance now My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £217.68 (includes shipping: £8.70)

This is interesting....

Both the 3100 and 3300X have an IO die, But the 3100 is a 2x2 die configuration while the 3300X is a single die configuration, so there is no inter CCX latency.

At the same clock speed (3.9Ghz) the single CCX 3300X is 7% faster than the dual CCX 3100.

Yep, it’s worth the paying the extra £20 for the 3300x

Right but more importantly this confirms what we all suspected but had no way of testing, that AMD's Multi Chiplet design hurts their gaming performance, this shows it does, by 7%, which is significant given that Coffeelake has about a 5% lead in overall gaming performance vs Zen 2.

So, for someone who has B450 mobo and a Ryzen 5 2600...is the 3300X worth getting? Once the BIOS becomes available for something like the B450M ASRock Steel Legend.

I am in the same situation as you,I would probably just wait until Zen3 is released, and get a cheap Ryzen 7 3700X.

IMO no, its faster in games because its Zen 2 vs your Zen+, BUT only in games that don't use a lot of threads, where a lot of threads are used there is little if any difference between the 4 core 8 thread 3300X and the 6 core 12 thread 2600.

If you watch this video from the time linked link you will see what i'm talking about, sometime the 3300X is significantly ahead, other times there is nothing in it.

If you want a real upgrade to your 2600 you need a 3600.

Much appreciated. I've not long gotten the 2600 as it was on a good deal. But the machine it is in isn't used for gaming. The other machine it still hoarding an i7 5820K, so I might look at upgrading that to the 3300X when the B550 boards come out. Or just go straight for an X570 instead. Decisions, decisions!
