OcUK Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X review thread

A monolithic 8 core Zen die is TINY. It won't be very big even with a more capable GPU than found in the 3400G, look at the 4800H in mobile! There's some rumor mill speculation that APUs will form the low to upper mid range of the stack for the 4000 series, thats up to and including something like a 4800G (rather than X)...

For OEMs it'd be a win/win. No need for a dGPU to add to cost/complexity. Smaller cases, simpler cooling, more than 4 cores. I've always been bemused by mainstream Ryzen NOT having a basic iGPU

A Ryzen 4800G desktop would be all kinds of awesome.

Still waiting for my 3300x for my Dads build from a competitor, think they're having stock issues hence the price increases all round.

how would a 1700 1800x stack up against these surely those are good value if say around £100 too ?

In gaming the 3300x is around 10-15% better than the 1700 and 1800x, it's pretty much on par with a 3600 for gaming alone. The older CPUs edge ahead in CPU performance but only by a couple of percent.

If you already have the 1700 or 1800x I wouldn't rush out and buy a 3300x to be honest. It's not going to be a big upgrade, especially if you're gmaing in 1440p/4k when you're pretty much GPU bottlenecked anyway.

For anything other than gaming the extra threads make quite a difference.
