OCZ 3.5" Drives - Do they suffer the same reliability issues?

Hi All,

SSD's all round this payday, now I've been reading about the OCZ Agility 3's - the read and write speeds are quite frankly astonishing - but I've also read about them randomly failing...something which I can't have!

Now one of the machines I'm putting an SSD in it will be fitting in a 3.5" bay, so the OCZ Vertex 2 'bigfoot' seems perfect...

Does it suffer the same issues as the agility 3? Can anyone confirm this? :)

Thanks,
Jake

They don't use the same controller so won't be afflicted by the same issues that the current Sandforce drives are suffering, though you do tend to hear about OCZ Sandforce drives in general failing more often than other brands, this could be due to them being more popular or just failing more in general.

Personally I'd be looking at the Corsair M4 or Intel 510 drives, not heard of one of those failing, I'm sure it happens but seems a lot rarer.

The Vertex 2 drives are not affected by the same issues as the Vertex 3 drives as the controller is different, however I'd still recommend a different brand, either Crucial or Intel.

Thanks, how comes you would recommend a different brand?
