I purchased the Agility first, was having lockup issues. Swapped it in to a new PC, was better but still locked up.

Purchased the Vertex before I RMA'd the Agility as I cannot be without a PC. Updated the firmware to 2.09, installed Windows everything seemed OK.

The machine is used for developing software with Visual Studio 2010. I am getting serious lag issues when building applications, this involves reading hundreds of small files compiling them in to a larger one. I get better performance from old standard SATA drives.

Can anyone think of a reason why the Vertex which gets 7.9 in windows experience is causing the computer to freeze up with these operations?

I am sick of OCZ! :)

Had the same issues with my OCZ Vertex 3, RMA'd it to OcUK today. Did a lot of searching on OCZ forums and it appears the issue is with the Sandforce controller and at present there is no "fix" :(

thanks for confirming.

what a pain in the chuff! quite an oversight on ocz's behalf

Glad I read this now was close to buying one, think I'll pay a premium and get a slower Intel model instead with larger capacity.

I just bought one of agillity 3 drives today for a media centre build

Should have done some research . i wasnt aware of any issues and overclockers should not really have been selling them if they are aware of the problem .

Will be sending it back for a refund tommorow .I just want a drive to install and work like my intel ssd . Have no time for constant problems like these drives seem to have .

Sandforce is only faster when handling compressible files, as it compresses on the fly and therefore doesn't write all the data to the drive (hence saving time and wear and tear on the flash RAM). If you're compiling video I would expect that data is not compressible and therefore it's having to do it the hard way.

Probably should have bought a different drive based on a controller other than Sandforce. Intel or Marvell (in the Crucial) spring to mind.

Ill be returning it tommorow as soon as its deliverd . Wont even open it .Will buy the crucial drive instead .

Feel like a right **** buying it without doing some research

I got refunded today and went for the Intel 510 Series "Elmcrest" 120GB 2.5" SATA-3 Solid State Hard Drive

Not the fastest by any means but i went for reliability over speed this time.

Corsair use the same controllers (Sandforce) as the OCZ drives which are the main cause of these problems. Go with Crucial.

Well i did my research on the ocz forums and there are soo many threads of people complaining about BSOD's etc

http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/f...lash-this-FW-if-you-have-issues-with-other-FW.

They are pushing everyone to update to the latest firmware but it confused me and i don't like having to update firmwares just to get my hardware to work, OCZ should have tested the drives a lot more thoroughly before passing them onto the public.

Its disgusting that these drives are still on sale when its clear they have a major hardware problem that no amount of firmware updates are going to fix.

Yeah the Crucial M4 looks tasty, and at 128 GB for £170, it's a lot cheaper than the Vertex 3 too!

Especially when you get it for 140 quid open but unused :D.

I'm sure there are plenty of people out there with no problems whatsoever. It's a case of the vocal minority, you don't go on a manufacturers website to say thank you, your product works do you? All hardware can be DOA or have issues soon after installation.
