OCZ Agility 3 and OCZ Vertex 3 - Issues

My intel drive is running perfect .Installed just like a mechanical drive 4 months ago

Not 1 bsod ,lock up nothing , This is how hardware should work .

I decided on a ocz drive for speed this time round .

Should I return

Just rec'd new prebuilt system (Ultima Mosasaur) and upgraded with agility 3 60gb sad. Not even booted machine up yet, prior to receipt read the issues with this ssd, then rec'd system, to find motherboard needs re-siting.

Anyone have an idea on the real number of people with the BSOD problem. I'm returning product Saturday to get motherboard re-sited wondering whether I should insist that they swap out the ssd, for one without issues.

Not everyone is experiencing issues. My nephew bought an agility 3 at the same time as me and has not once had a lock up (about a month or more).

Unfortunately I have 2 in raid and have had about a dozen bsods.

That said since the latest update, its been solid. The read / write speads on these drives are mental.

Choice is yours at the end of the day. If you want full on reliability buy a mechanical drive lol.

My intel ssd is reliable . no bsod,no lock ups,no stuttering nothing. just as good as a mechanical drive .

I bought this to go into a media centre to make it completely silent .

These should not be on sale if they have major problems , and a quick look on the ocz forums proves beyond doubt that there is a major problem and no firmware is gona fix it .

There should be a re-call

I had frequent BSOD's with my Agility 3 60GB on firmware 2.06 & 2.08.
Now on 2.09 & 3 days of 24hrs & OK
There is a linux ISO to update firmware on OS drive.
True some see reduced speeds but not everyone. Another firmware due soon once Sandforce & OCZ do more testing.

l've just sent back a replacement OCZ Agility to OCZ lasted just over a week, just vanished from windows and the Bios could'nt detect it, no matter what l tried, new sata3 cable, re-install of windows, you name it l tried it. My 1st one lasted nearly 2 years, at least OCZ have a good turn around, won't be buying OCZ SSD's anymore. :(

This new Intel SSD i have is rock solid and more than fast enough for what i do, yes the OCZ Vertex3 was faster but at least this Intel drive doesn't cause a BSOD every few hours :)

My Agility 3 arrived Thursday and was bricked by Saturday night. It froze then when i restarted it wont detect in the bios on my computer or any other. My first SSD and im seriously put off by this...

Don't be.

I first had a C300 (crucial) and it was amazing, still going well.

Had a new build, got the OCZ as it was newer and it was a pile of poop.

Just do some research first

Had my agilty 3 60Gb runing now for 3 days no BSOD's as of yet on firmware 2.06 although I think I might be getting some freezing need to do some more testing to be sure, and will wait to see what happens with the next firmware update as 2.09 isnt supposed to be great

Sandforce is only faster when handling compressible files, as it compresses on the fly and therefore doesn't write all the data to the drive (hence saving time and wear and tear on the flash RAM). If you're compiling video I would expect that data is not compressible and therefore it's having to do it the hard way.

Probably should have bought a different drive based on a controller other than Sandforce. Intel or Marvell (in the Crucial) spring to mind.

He is compiling software not video. The files are ASCII so they should be highly compressable.

I use an Intel 160GB on my development machine which uses VS2008 and it flys building. Previous to this I was using a 300GB Raptor. I noticed a big improvement working on the web side. If you want fast build times you need a fast CPU.
