It plugs in to the red ports at the bottom of the picture using a SATA cable, these are your SATA connectors. It's powered by your power supply usually a 4 pin molex with an adapter or if you have a newer PSU it should have the plugs already attached. You should have an adapter included with the drive.

There was nothing with the ssd :/ Just the package.

Do I need to tell my bios that a SSD is in? I think I need to visit the power thing as I've just got the SATA cable plugged in but nothing else :o

you need to set sata ports to ahci mode in the bios

plug in the power connector from the psu and the sata cable to send/recive the data to and from the ssd, those connectors only plug in one way so you cant go wrong

you might need to do a clean install of windows to use ahci as you have to set it to that first before you install windows,or google 'win7 enable ahci' forthe reg tweak to save reinstalling

I'll take a pic of the cable I've got and put it up here. Just to make sure it's the right power cable I'm using. I got a corsair 650W (blue sticker) new so hopefully it will have a lead I can use. If not can someone post up the link to the cable on the OCUK website that I'd need to buy to get this working?

Remember it's an older gen motherboard I have - P5Q Deluxe

thanks in advance

You'll need one like this to connect it to the motherboard:

Connected to one of these red SATA ports:

And one of these from your power supply:

Hope that helps

I've set this up but when I go into the BIOS to see if I can see it I don't know what to do? Do I need to tell the motherboard/BIOS that I have an SSD or does it auto detect...as it's not detecting mine :( Help

What are your plans for the SSD? Data or OS. If its OS then follow wazza's instructions, should be up and running in no time. Don't forget to disconnect your current HDD first if you are going to do a fresh install.

Just installed the same drive in mine, but cloned the drive took 1hr total. Well impressed with the speeds, from pressing the power button to Internet explorer, including logging on is just under 30 secs.

I've got the ssd now working after I RMA'd it. How can I then convert my old HD (that had windows on it) to become a normal storage HD? Can I just plug it in and it should show up?

yeah keep everything on it as it was and plug it in,you might need to reset your ssd as first boot device in bios so it boots from that and not your hdd

then access what you need on your old hdd ect, delete or leave what you dont need or use
