Wow, I didn't know they were in trouble. Hopefully Toshiba can strengthen up what they've taken over and build real competition against the likes of Samsung and Crucial. Sad to see them go.
Great to see people lose their jobs isn't it?
Hopefully Tosh retain and steer the SSD and PSU division down the right path. DRAM is a tough market

TBH as much as people bash their SSD's and PSU's at times, i never had issues with any of them and they gave me a stunning 5 year warranty on the PSU (which might be void now
)It is never good too see people lose their jobs especially just before christmas and with them luck in finding new roles.
However if you think that I will not take some satisfaction in setting a company that was willing to sell total trash which they did with their ssd drives then you are mistaken. Look at the amount of failed drives they produced how many unhappy customers they created now they reap what they sow and you expect me too be sorry for the company?

Oh dear I have a 2 month old 500GB SSD from OCZ - hopefully it doesn't go **** up.
They really never recovered from the bad press their SSD's got with reliability issues - Toshiba could do quite well by simply taking that business and putting their branding on it I imagine as I think their latest models are pretty reliable (touch wood).

Unfortunately in recent years, their quality of their products have gone downhill. As they got a reputation for poor products and financial problems, people have been less likely to buy their goods, and they've ended up folding.
They had it easy years ago when they were one of the first companies to bring enthusiast products to the mainstream market, but now of course competition has gone up, and you can get better products from many other companies. I think OCZ didn't respond well to the changing market, and getting a bad reputation for their products killed them off.

Read not long ago they were making lay offs. I can't say I'm surprised. The amount of Vertex 2's I had to send back to them almost went into triple figures. I'm not generally a fan of their products, but their support was pretty good.
Don't stress too much about your warranty. Learn the sale of goods act forwards and backwards, it is the only way to stop online retailers from getting away with murder.
it is your right to expect a product to be fit for purpose. This means a 5 year warranty offer is meaningless, since any product which lasts less than 5 years could be considered unfit for purpose. You may have to argue a case if it is as far as 5 years, but I have had success when returning items which were over 4 years old because I knew what I was entitled to.
Your rights are against the retailer – the company that sold you the product – not the manufacturer, and so you should make any claim against the retailer anyway.
Never let them fob you off. Know your rights. If you bought anything from OCUK and it dies within a year or 2 of general use, send it back and quote the sale of goods act as the item is clearly not fit for purpose.
