Hi
Before i got this drive i got a series of instructions to follow to ensure installation went smoothly......it's not.
First up i was told switch to AHCI
I did but the trouble is my pc will not boot now on my old hard drive, it crashes half way through loading.
If i leave AHCI off OCZ toolbox 2.22 crashes when you try to do anything to it and locks the pc.
The drive itself is v 1.23 so i downloaded the 1.24 firmware and ran that installer, but that failed to work because you have to be in AHCI mode :(

I'm getting really frustrated now can anyone help?

If you cloned from an initial IDE install and then enable AHCI in the BIOS, Windows will crash during boot because it doesn't know it needs to start the AHCI service. You need to make a simple registry edit to enable the service, at which point you can set the BIOS in AHCI mode and successfully boot.
google 'windows ahci registry' for details, there are loads of guides.

Thanks Zarf that worked a treat, one problem down :)

Ok i then used the updater to update the firmware to 1.24....done successfully.

I then loaded the toolbox to secure erase the drive but that doesn't work it states ' drive security interface is frozen please power cycle the drive and restart toolbox to clear the condition.

Any idea what that all means?

Remove the power connector from the SSD after booting to Windows, leave it off for 10 minutes, then plug it back in and use the toolbox.

This'll only work if Windows isn't running off of the SSD obviously...

Hey Dragon i did try un doing the cable (not 10 mins mind) and it didn't work.
I checked the ocz forums and they said this was windows causing it to freeze and not bios so the cable trick wouldnt work, the answer was to install the intel drivers. Trouble is i couldn't as i didn't have the ocz up and running yet.
Bottom line is i've done the following

When i was having issues at beginning with ahci i tried to install windows to the drive i got to the bit where it said set up is starting then i realised it was a wrong move and gave up.
Then i got ahci working.
I couldn't get the erase thing to work so i did a windows install and it worked the drive is working and i got the following benchmarks.
I can't attach a file so:
The last 4 lines on the benchmark state write 279860, read 287890 or there or there abouts.
Please comment on if they are acceptable.
My concern is i maybe installed to a not 100% clean drive and perhaps bits of the aborted install of win 7 are still there...........should i just get on with it?
