Any idea when OCuK might get stock of the new OCZ vertex SSD's?

Seems they have solved the memory controller issues by adding on board cache to the drive seems sensible.

From the info i have. It no longer uses the JMicron controller.

They will be out late December 2008 (limited availability) and, widely available in January 2009, according to OCZ.
The prices seem quite reasonable too ($129 for the 30GB version).

OCZ started talking to me about these last night. We've not been given any pricing but have been told that these are going to be quite expensive.

MLC or SLC ?

I'm assuming MLC (ie copying Intel) due to the capacities.

MLC. Am still very interested to see what the prices are gonna be!

Hopefully this will be the start of cheaper high performance drives.

The 60 GB version is on stock in my normal german internet store for 229 euro,
anyways lately I have been shopping in UK due tho the cheap pound, and hope
OC-UK wil have a better price compared, just like the other stuff I just bought
in a online UK musicstore

Yes it would be nice to know OCZ have said they are available but in limited numbers.

I've noticed there seems to be very little SSD's around anywhere at the moment. Also seems to be a shortage of Asus D2x cards.

You will start seeing these available in a couple of weeks. They are already available for pre order at a certain uk e-tailor. It won't be long now. I'm going to hang on for a few reviews to pop up before i consider purchasing these as we all know the problems the v1 & 2 bought to the table. Irrelevant to whether they have a new controller or not its not worth just purchasing these alone on just what OCZ have promised, i would seriously wait for the reviews first.

Yes as people should with all hardware

I'll give it 6 months or so and i will start considering an SSD to go along with a Windows 7 upgrade.

I've seen the 30GB on pre-order for £99.95 and the 120GB for £314.95 from a competitor.

Prices are looking good so let's hope they perform well!

Slackworth - Any news on the Vertex drives and ETA? These are available for preorder at another store which I can't mention.

Don't want to miss the boat ;-)

If you could get the patriot drives in as well would be a bonus.
