Hi ive just installed a Vertex2 and when using Crystaldiskmark my read.write speeds are way below the specs.

However when using Atto my Read/Write are correct,is the sandforce controller not really configured to work with crystaldiskmark as my old C300 was fine, though it used a different controller?

Should i use Atto and ignore the low benchmark speeds with crystaldiskmark?

Edit:

My Write speeds with Atto are only 150mb when they should be 275?

It seems after more research using several benchmarking programs which i have done tonight, might slow down the write speeds so i will have to check again in a few days.

ATTO is more suitable for the Vertex 2/3 SSD's because it uses compressible data and this is how the Sandforce controller chip works (compresses data). AS Benchmark and Crystal disk use incompressible data and so you don't get an accurate benchmark. Also don't run too many benchmarks as this has a negative impact on the SSD's performance.

Well after leaving my PC on all night/day,im assuming the drive has settled down after me running too many Benchmarks,my results are now what they should be all but 10mb for the read -25mb or so for the writes.

Last night i was only getting 140-150mb for my writes so no doubt Crystaldiskmark has messed the drive up a bit,OCZ Garbage Collection has done its business and sorted the drive out.

Trouble is as i thought the drive was maybe faulty i have since ordered a Crucial M4,so i now have 2 brand new SSDS,a tad impatient i think
